Satoru Iwata has taken the stage following the DS videoreel (and the temporary collapse of my video link).
Talking about the popularity of Nintendo DS in Japan. Now he's talking about Wii.
Virtual Console will reconnect lapsed gamers with gaming. The business model will also allow for all-new kinds of game to be produced that use the remote.
Talking about load times. Virtual Console and menus will be available like PC "windows" - instantly available.
It will be constantly on-line. Wii Connect 24 technology allows Wii to be online constantly on very little power. Allows for services like email and new game elements and updates. Networking software comes included in the hardware.
Non-gamer software WiiSports Tennis, golf and baseball all on one game. Available at launch.

Constantly online eh? Does that mean it will be online without using the stinking Wi-Fi dongle attachement? Here's hoping!

I caught that you will be able to open "windows" instantly, for things like email. Missed the web browser though... but that would certainly make sense.
Instant updates sound good... if somewhat ominous.
