That's no rumour. This was a suitcase of mockups that Edge magazine said Nintendo were showing behind closed doors at E3.
Doesn't mean they'll ever be commercially available...
I could probably make do without the NES or SNES pads, as the "VC Pad" Nintendo showed would manage either of them quite nicely. But I might purchase an N64 pad, simply because no control pad has looked so wrong and yet felt so right! ;D

I'm already going to have to buy 4 wiimotes w/nunchakus. I'm already gonna have to buy 4 VC controllers (unless they can be mixed and matched with GCN ones, but I'd still pick up a couple) I'll probably pick up a light gun at some point.
That will be more than enough for me for now.
And has a side note, the US SNES controller colour scheme is absolutely butt-ugly. 4 coloured SFC / PAL SNES scheme for the win!

Wouldn't it be easier if the VC games were controlled via gamecube controllers and allow the player the option to be able to customise the controls.

That will be more than enough for me for now. The nunchuk will no doubt be packed with every Wiimote, and if Nintendo is even going to remotely attempt to market the VC, a VC pad will be included with a Wii purchase. You'll only need an extra VC controller if you plan to DL two-player games, and only need more than 2 for multiplayer N64 games. It should be a cheap controller to produce. Its also possible that there will be a controller set that includes a VC controller (hopefully.) The light gun will hopefully be packaged with Duck Hunt or something similar. Hopefully Nintendo gives us enough options that you don't end up buying 16 different extentions seperately, but is still able to market the system concisely to non-gamers as their goal is. Seeing a dozen different playing modes is not going to draw in that new audience. It could be a tight-rope walk. I hope VC controllers can be mixed and matched with GC controllers though, especially for Smash Bros.

Mmm... skittles. ;D
Our SNES looks sleeker too. Like some kind of space pod... rather than some kind of Cold War-era military vehicle painted purple and grey.

Yes, your SNES is sleek and pretty. Our SNES is ready to go to war. Ask which one is better!

Yours is ready to go to war with Russia. Ours is a space pod... and as such is ready to go to war with the world. I would prefer the space pod every time.
Yoshi's Island played on a tank does not seem right. It needs something sexier.

Well, see, Nintendo originally thought they would have to be dealing with Controllerang-throwing Aussies. Since Xbox already had all the software pirates a cussin' and a cursin' and a downloadin', Nintendo decided the only alternative was to transform their gamers into a breed of super game-playing ninjas. This was of course, so intimidating that Sony backed out of their deadly Aussie warriors. Last I heard, they were thinking of going Viking.

Last I heard, Sony were thinking about copying the success of Mario...
...BY GOING DOWN THE TUBES! *badum-chh* ;D
