My Wi-fi Dilemma

Hello. This Saturday we are getting high-speed Internet. Until December. But December is (hopefully) when I'll get a DS.

So that means I won't get Wifi! After highspeed, I'll have a Mac withan AirPort and 56k modem.

I can pick up wireless at the end of my driveway...

Or is there a quick little device I can plug directly into the phone line?

Are you talking about playing Nintendo WFC via phone line? I'd suggest you to scrap that idea - nobody can guarantee about the quality of playing online games witha 56k connection - given that Nintendo WFC can even SUPPORT it.

I'd suggest you to keep the high-speed connection. Now wait... doesn't the USB adaptor supports only Windows, a product by one of Nintendo's enemies? Because of that, I'd highly recommend you to but a wireless router. A router by Buffalo supporting AOSS would be a good choice.

You have to have Windows XP installed in order to use the Nintendo Wi-Fi USB Connector, but you can use other wireless routers if you're using a different operating system.

However, I suspect trying to wirelessly connect to a 56k modem is a fools errand. Why don't you just get broadband? It's cheap as chips these days.

*Sigh*...I have Broadband, and Windows XP, but my (official) Nintendo USB Wifi connector STILL didn't work.

I'm waiting to see hard proof of how the Wii's Wifi will work before splashing out on a different wifi adaptor. I'm hoping against hope that Wii won't need one, the proof being the "WiiConnect24" service - you'd have to keep you computer on at all times, logged on to the internet at all times if Wii uses an adaptor. That would just be too uncomfortable for Nintendo's simple-as-possible style. *crosses fingers*
