VG Cats is absolutely terrible. I can't recall ever seeing one that was funny, except for maybe the veggienomics one, but even that was "oh, thats clever" and not laugh out loud funny.
Also it would be nice if he made the reference when it was fresh, not as a random piece 10 years later.

VG Cats and Penny Arcade are both high-quality comics. Some people just don't like the type of comedy in them. Calling either one of them terrible is a pretty good way to start an argument.  Personally, I didn't find it as funny as a lot of other VG Cats comics. But it still gave me a chuckle, and that's better than nothing at all. ;D |

Just kidding. I seem to favor PA a bit more, because it can come up with some pretty clever stuff. ("We've secretly replaced Gabe's Xbox controller with a 600-pound grizzly bear. Let's see if he notices.")

I love Penny-Arcade as well, but it's a very different kind of humour. Sometimes I don't always find them funny, but you know they're trying.
That VG Cats comic was one of the funniest because that's more or less what goes through my mind when I play Lylat Wars.
