Those were all my traded Chikoritas that I wasn't going to keep anyway. Only Pokemon of mine I nicknamed were Pengin (Piplup) (South Park reference), Shoe (Bidoof) (extension of the South Park reference) and Shoeverine (Happiny) (I was watching Conan O'Brien and for some reason though it would be a good name).
I nicknamed every one of my Pokemon in Leaf Green but it got to be a real hassle coming up with good names.

True, everybody should nickname them. Come on, even NPCs do so! The first time I used the GTS I was excited because some guy sent me a Japanese Glameow, and it had a nickname in Japanese... apparently. It was just the name of the species (Nyarumaa), which was disappointing.
I just beat Gardenia, the 2nd Gym Leader.
I wonder what starter has more demand than Chikorita?

I wonder what starter has more demand than Chikorita? Mudkips, 'cuz I herd u leik them. I usually give out referential or sophomoric nicknames to my Pokemon, but I've made a concsious effort to cut back on the sophomoric ones--once I realized I'd traded a Mime Jr. named POO HAT to someone over the GTS, anyway. Kind of embarassing. I like naming them after Robot Masters from Megaman; I've got a Rotom named DYNAMOMAN, a Leafeon named WOODMAN and a Ralts named SLASHMAN (the eventual plan is that one will become a Gallade) waiting to be traded into my Pearl file. They're accompanied by a Porygon2 (soon to be a Porygon-Z) named TRON (though FLYNN would probably have been a more appropriate name) and a Murkrow named BLECK. The only team member I plan on seriously training that will not be traded is my Piplup, which I Have named Prinny.

Now that you type those names in upper case, did you notice Game Freak is trying to make initial caps the standard for names (playable characters, non-playable ones, and nicknames)? It's now "Dawn", "Roark", and even the in-game traded Pokémon's nicknames... It's kind of annoying I didn't realize that before.

I'm glad they finally did that. Even though that meant I had to fix the names in my Leaf Green game, since in that one I had buckled under and went with the full caps convention.
Also: I have all the starters from the previous generations, sans Charmander and Squirtle. Anyone who can set me up with one of those it'd be much appreciated, I'll gladly breed you one of the starters from any of the other games.

when IS Europe getting to delve into the wonderful world of Pokemon for the fourth generation, Fry? Well Australia gets it on June 21st, so that could mean right around then, or you could use Metroid Prime Pinball as a baseline which would put the EU release sometime around February 09.
