Nintendo is apparantly working on a new IP for the DS utilizing a rather interesting control method. The game is called Slide Adventure: Mag Kid and it comes with a 'slide controller'. "The slide controller plugs into the Game Boy Advance cartridge slot and, laying beneath the system, looks somewhat like a stand. As you slide the DS around on a table, the controller picks up your movements. This is how you move the main character about the overhead fields of play."I could work, I suppose. You think the controller will also be used in other games?

I'm still confused as how this functions. Is it like a motion/accelarometer sensor or does it function sort of like a computer mouse?

Here's a scan from Famitsu, which shows the peripheral in question as well as some screenshots. I'm still confused as how this functions. Is it like a motion/accelarometer sensor or does it function sort of like a computer mouse? Technically, a computer mouse is also a motion sensor and accelerometer I'm not really sure how the peripheral works. It's hard to tell from the scan. A trackball like with older computer mice seems unlikely because it doesn't look like it would fit, but something like an optical mouse is a possibility. Heh heh heh. "It doesn't look like it would fit." That's what she said.

Yes!!! That link works. The game looks quite interesting. The slide sensor also looks quite neat too (though it defintilty won't be able to be stored in a normal NDS game case like the DS rumble pack)
The design of the character I did not think was going to be shaped liked a cetipede, I was more imagning a circle shaped character (not Kirby shaped in any way) and magnetised stuff just got stuck to the outside of it or some human character design (it is called mag "kid" after all)
Also I kept thinking that maybe this character could be in SSBB, but not now. But all in all, it looks like an interesting game.
