Think of it like SSB, but this time as an MMORPG. Would you play it or even pay monthly to play it?

I'd play it, but I wouldn't really want to pay for it, unless it's pretty cheap. Not that it wouldn't be good of course, but because I don't have a lot of money... I should get a job, but I'm too lazy I think Animal Crossing as an MMORPG would work pretty well. IMO, Nintendo should do it the way Sony is doing with PS2; only pay for the online adapter-thingamabob, and then just play the online games for free.

I think Iwata Satoru said that Nintendo does not want you to pay for online so I guess that you'd only have to pay for an adaptor.
And Animal Crossing surely would be perfect, but only if guests in peoples towns had limited features. I guess there will be many people trying to cut all trees in your town or something.

I am eagerly awaiting the day Nintendo moves online. I am expecting some truly unique applications. I just hope I'm connected to a decent broadband connection when that day rolls around

You'll always need a subscription to a server with online, it just won't recognise your machine without it. There are many free MMORPG's but you'll still register your account to a server.

I think it's a bit too late for that to happen with the GameCube, but hopefully online gaming will go better with the Revolution.

If Nintendo makes a MMORPG I hope you have to pay for it. Ever heard of the phrase "You get what you pay for"? The closest thing to a free MMORPG I can think of is the Diablo series. Which isn't really a MMORPG. It's more like a MORPG. No Massive. Not to mention all the cheating that goes on.
Although recently MMOROPGs seem to be charging $15 . I would hope Nintendo wouldn't go over 10.
The games that have the best chance of being a MMORPG are Zelda, Fire Emblem, and, of course, Animal Crossing. Zelda has several cool races that would be perfect for a MMORPG(Hylian, Zora, Goron, Kohkiri/Korok, Gerudo, Shiekah, and maybe Rito, Tokay, Subrosian, and Zuna). And Fire Emblem doesn't have to worry about fitting into the plot of other games.

I have often thought how a Mario-based MMORPG would work. Hear me out:
It could be called Mushroom Kingdom or something, and you would customize the appearance and life of a mushroom person like Toad. You could develop various skills that will assist you in making a living, including fighting and other adventure-style skills. You could go off on your own or with friends to fight koopas and such and collect treasure. Occasionally, NPC's will need your help. Mario may recruit you to help him storm a castle and rescue Peach, or Wario may recruit you for a treasure hunting expedition. With enough money, you can eventually purchase your own mushroom house and possibly acquire a Yoshi for faster transportation.
I don't know. I think it could work.

I think that would work quite well with a Starfox game: set up your own 'mercenary team for hire' where you could create all kinds of wacky character profiles (I would be a monkey of some kind). Your team could be you and your friends, or just you and some CPUs with set characteristics (for if you don't have any friends). Design a base, do some odd jobs around the galaxy (cargo shipment, garbage disposal, smuggling, killing things...), earn credits to buy starships/base stuff/stuff to mod up you Landmaster. You could work side by side with the Starfox team or be their rivals (kill Slippy! Yay!)....etc...etc
Can you tell I'm a Starfox fan?

Nintendo Making an MMO? Sounds interesting. I would play it if they did it well. I currently am subscribed to World of Warcraft. They just couldn't do anything extremely lame like letting people play as main characters.
They would need generic classes. Also, they would have to be speciallized, but balanced enough to be able to solo. I have no idea what game they could base it off of, or maybe they could do some sort of "colliding dimensions" thing...

I just remembered a game that would make a great MMORPG. Pokemon!
Also a new original series could be a good idea also.
