we all know it's coming out. According to both NextGen and Edge, the game is going to be a MMO social networking game. Discusss!

OK.
URGH!!
I am so bored with chore games (as I call them). This game has to fulfil two criteria before I will consider buying it: 1. It has to have a bit more "game" to it - something to make up for the sheer tedium of collecting oranges and shells every day just for something to do. 2. Update the character models. Sure it's a bit quirky, but it's not a "style" any more - it's just outdated. Round out those N64 edges, give the characters more expressive faces. Anything to differentiate it from the other two.

I think AC would work perfectly with a Wind Waker graphical style. It would keep the same 'style', but would look good, rather than like something from the N64.
I like the idea of having an MMO area, but you also need to have your own villages. Maybe, to differentiate these, the villages could have different themes or something. I would also utilise WiiConnect by allowing others to live in your village. It would still be YOUR village, but others could live in there - essentially as real people filling the role of NPCs.
Also NPCs need to do more stuff. Upgrade their house. ....get married to other villagers? I don't know, but more stuff.
And as Fry mentioned, some actual game play would be helpful. At the very least, some stuff like fishing and fossil digging has to be turned into minigames.
Also go into details about Tom Nook's secret underground mafia business. "Nephews"? Pfft.

Well, if it'd be the same gameplay as the previous games it would certainly be outdated, so changing to a MMO game is the first step in the right direction. And if you live with a bunch of real people in a town, they could add jobs for the people to add more gameplay.

I've been looking at MySims and I think that'd be a good direction to go for the game. Instead of having NPCs come and go randomly, it'd be good if the player had some control over the process. More control over your house and even the ability to customize furniture would also be cool.
As for gameplay, minigames to let you win items and money would be a good thing.

I remember reading a rumor not too long ago it would utilize your Miis rather than the familiar Villager look.

400th post!
I remember reading many unofficial ideas for an Animal Crossing sequel over the years.
An idea that I would like to see would be if special villagers (Tom Nook, Booker &Copper and others) actually had houses for them to live in. I think it would really add to a "everybody in your town has a life, instead of just a basic job."
If everyones villages are supposed to be different maybe they could take it to the next level and make a random villages become the shopkeeper role or the police role from the start instead of just having Nook or B & C. Just imagine having in your village, Rover is the shopkeeper while Leigh could be one of the cops and in your friend's villages it would be another set of different villages in those positions. But I don't think the chances for the idea are likely though and may be too hard to implement.
To expand upon my first idea maybe you could go to say Tom Nook's house during a certain time of the week when he is not in his store and you could have a game of Poker with him and few other villages from your town and possibly a few people Nook knows from outside of town joining as well. You could bet your own money and use it to get more money for you in the game.

While a lot of the stuff you do can be considerd gambling poker would be the one they can't overlook.

But I don't think the chances for the idea are likely though and may be too hard to implement. That's what I said when I heard the new Zelda game for DS would be played entirely on the Touch Screen...

Wow a T rating for poker? Oh, well . . . That's something I never saw coming for my idea.
Just grabbed my box's for SM64DS and NSMB and I can see what you mean. The rating for Australasia for SM64DS is G 8+ and NSMB is PG beacuse of "mild gambling references."
The back of NSMB actually says "parental guidance recommended."
