So, you live in the Britain and you're wondering if you're ever going to get special treatment for your Nintendo consoles. Well... Apparently we are!So from today, Wii users in the United Kingdom will be able to download BBC programs and watch them through the comfort of their Wii, rather than the PC. This is great news. I hate watching programs on my PC, and now I can download the best of BBC straight onto the Wii! And I bet it'll be a clearer picture than my usual BBC as well

That article seems to be giving a conflicting message... Towards the beginning it says the BBC iPlayer will be a new Wii Channel, which sounds awesome... but then later it says it'll be available via the Wii's Internet Channel. Which... doesn't sound impressive at all. In fact, it sounds like the Wii should already be able to do that. It runs Flash, right? So which is it? I'm confused.

I haven't checked it out yet, but it's supposed to be available from today. iPlayer is a download rather than flash video though, so I'm guessing it's gonna be a channel.

I was thinking it was that whole TV-on-demand thing they have going. The lower-case i should've clued me in, I guess. No sign of it yet, though... wasn't it supposed to be available on Wednesday?

Yeah, although maybe they're trialling it in some areas first. I got the impression it wouldn't be a wide release straight away.

I really hope they are also going to do this in the Netherlands. But, since Nintendo never cares about our small country, I highly doubt it.

Sounds like a good idea but I've never had any luck with BBC iPlayer before. Maybe its my internet but the online radio BBC iPlayer keeps skipping and muting itself. Never tried the watching online thing before, I guess I don't watch that much TV. Not BBC anyway

The Wii Channel structure definitely seems to allow companies (like BBC) to be able do their own thing. All those channels may seem like a hassle, but the system really does work. I wonder if some of the US networks will pick up on this too. I'd love to be able to stream Heroes, The Office, and BSG on my Wii... as pointless as that may be (given that my computer monitor is used for Wii gaming anyways).
It'd be especially cool if Netflix added a Wii Channel too. I've become quite a fan of their online movies while in between rentals.
