He is definitely a dinosaur, though the coins picturing his face are definitely called dragon coins.

Well, according to the SMB movie he's a dinosaur. But, as that movie is incorrect in just about every way imaginable I don't think we can use it as an accurate source.

Well, he lives in Dinosaur Land, and he looks like a dinosaur. I don't know how many dragons sport feathery wings (and only after eating a blue-coloured shell), but I'm pretty sure only dinosaurs can do that!
Mmm... Mario logic...
But is Bowser a dragon or a turtle? Curse you NoA!

Hmm, yeah... I've never seen a turtle that can breathe fire, or a dragon with a shell... But then again, I've never seen a dragon WITHOUT a shell either. But I'm quite sure Yoshi is a dinosaur. I'm sure there were some Mario games in which Yoshi was called Yoshi the dinosaur... Don't ask me what games though

He's a Dinosaur. I don't get why people think he is a dragon...

But is Bowser a dragon or a turtle? Curse you NoA! Well, his full name is "King Boser Koopa", so it implies that he's just a large fire breathing koopa.... so, I say turtle.

So far 100% say dinosaur.
Of course according to dictionary.com a dinosaur is:
"Any of various extinct, often gigantic, carnivorous or herbivorous reptiles of the orders Saurischia and Ornithischia that were chiefly terrestrial and existed during the Mesozoic Era"
Which Yoshi is obviously not extinct, so that would make him a dragon, right?
Or maybe he's niether? Just a wierd reptile?

No, Ryuu is the Japanese word for dragon.
If someone did a "Jurassic Park" and managed to clone a dinosaur, the fact that it is no longer extinct doesn't mean it's not a dinosaur. Being extinct is just a contingent fact about dinosaurs, and not a necessary one.
And besides, Yoshi isn't real, so he can't be extinct or not.

That's right Fryguy...
Why don't we all just agree to disagree on this one - but Yoshi is a dinosaur - he is from DINOSAUR ISLAND, remember???
You could call him a DRAGINO... or not...

That's right! Haha! He's nothing more than a fictional concept embodied in a variety of computer generated guises! Bwahahaa! ;D
