I was just playing Super Smash Bros. Melee, and I saw that there was a Random option in the Name Entry. I pressed the button a few times and here are some names it came up with: DUCK (Duck Hunt) WART (That boss from SMB2) SAMI (If I remember right, there's a character in Advance Wars named Sami) HEYU (Hey You, Pikachu maybe?)
There were some others too, but I can't remember them... Anyway, I just thought I'd share them here, since they could be cameos...

On GameFaqs there is a whole FAQ made out for all the various random names that might mean something.

Really? I didn't know that... I can't seem to find it either. Could you give me a link?

Odd, I remember reading it clearly. And I thought it was at GameFaqs, they surely would not have removed it...

Ah, just did a quick Google search and I found it: faqs.ign.com/articles/365/365976p1.htmlHeh, according to that FAQ, even L33T is a random name! That's not something I'd expect in a Nintendo game

have you ever tried meesing about with the language settings (europe only)? if you change it to French then Jigglypuff is called "Rondoudou" and in German "Pummeluff". Young Link is billed as "Link Enfant" and "Junger Link" respectively but the announcer still calls him Young Link. Most of the Pokémon seem to have different names/voices in French/German... Spanish and Italian dont really change anything tho.

I played about with it in the original Super Smash Bros. and had a great big laugh at Rondoudou's wacky voice. It's a bit less cute, and a bit more silly. Some of the Pokeball Pokemon will change their names and voices too, which is always fun

I wonder the use of the name entry.

I should use it more. A friend of mine found great pleasure in having no losses under his name on his early import copy... mainly because he'd been practicing and unlocking everything before it even came out in the US. By the time it was out here he was unbeatable.
Well... WAS unbeatable (Tom, if you read this... that was a challenge)
