That Smash Bros one was hilarious. The only Nimtendo commercial that I remember is the MKDD one. Then again it's the only one I've seen over here.

Those commercials are pretty funny, what a weird sense of humour in some of them ;D
That SSB one made me laugh the most - I wonder how much they got paid for dressing up like the cast and then beating each other up? I would show Mario a thing or two about headbutts!
You dont see many commercial like that anymore, in fact you hardly ever see any video game commercials on TV but then thats probs because I dont watch too much TV (about 2-3hrs a day) I spend too much time out and about...

Finally, someone posted the video of that Kirby's Dream Land commercial I was talking about. "All Kirby's got is... APPETITE!"

Haha, that's brilliant. I don't think I've ever seen that one before.
I wonder if anyone has the old UK ads for the SNES starring Rik Mayall. Those were weird.

His colour wasn't decided on until after Kirby's Dream Land was released. Sakurai wanted him to be pink, Miyamoto thought he should be yellow - and the boxart and that ad lead to the assumption that Nintendo of America thought he should be white.
Sakurai eventually won out, it would seem.

Oh. I knew that Kirby didn't have color on the GB, but I was confused why NoA would think that he was supposed to be white.
Thanks Fry!

Here's a nifty little article on the marketing war between Nintendo and Sega in the late 80s/early 90s. It's not definitive, but there are some classic comercials there. Lots of "blast processing" and "Genesis does what Nintendon't." Nintendo's hard hitting Donkey Kong Country commercial. (Though, no "Nintendo is was Genesisn't" ads.) It's also lacking the "Welcome to the Next Level" vs "The Best Play Here" ads. Plus, a comercial for Sega's Nights Into Dreams that stabs at Sony's "PlayThing." www.bitsbytespixelssprites.com/blog/?p=8

Ironic, isn't it? All those years with Nintendo and SEGA as mortal enemies, sworn to destroy each other, and now they're best friends.

I think Sega is better friends with Microsoft. A lot of Sega's high profile games ended up on the X-Box, like Shenmue II, Jet Set Radio Future, Panzer Dragoon Orta, the Outrun series, and other original games. Might be because of Peter Moore. Yuji Naka, however, is a Nintendo fan, which is why Nintendo gets so much love from Sonic. It was cool to see Mario and Sonic settle their differences and get along like civilized mascots. Now I just want to see them beat the pixels out of each other in a Smash Bros. game.
