I was reading the "64DDenied" article in the Requiem for a System. Ura Zelda, as far as I knew was Ocarina of Time: Master Quest. Until, that is, I saw this.
In 1998, IGN64 asked Mr. Miyamoto about his Zelda title for the 64DD, a title to follow The Ocarina of Time and created by a different team than that of Majora’s Mask. Miyamoto expressed great happiness in the title: "I'm making the game right now, but I hope that this will be my greatest achievement so far. As for this platform, I can't think of any other tricks I can incorporate so we have invented the 64DD so that we can increase our capabilities."
Would Miyamoto really be saying that about a Zelda OOT remake that ALL it has is rearranged items and harder monsters? Well, so then I checked out the Wikipedia on it.
Ura Zelda was eventually released on the Nintendo GameCube as the Master Quest. However, the Master Quest released for the GameCube was most likely not the original release, as the 64DD version was supposed to do more than just change the dungeons; the Ura Zelda was also supposed to make the game longer, add dungeons, add items, add attacks and magic spells, and altogether expand the game.
Holy CARP!
And yet, they could of released this on a GameCube bonus disk.
Items...what kind of items? It would be awkward seeing Kid Link wield a Ball & Chain. Perhaps a "Cane of...". Dungeons? The "Light Dungeon", perhaps? Maybe the current dungeons would have been retrofitted to use the new items. Attacks? Perhaps nothing not seen in TWW. And magic spells? Wasn't that only in AoL? Multiplayer, perhaps? That would be awesome! Oooohh...and maybe more Ocarina Songs that actually do something.
I could go on and on, but what I'm really saying is that Zelda fans are missed something really need. If it was Miyamoto's pride, then it might be worth noting that the the parts of Ura Zelda are spread in other games, like Four Swords, TWW, or Twilight Princess.
Although my mini-summary is short, please discuss!
