I just happened to find an in-game rip of all the music in Gamecube's Wario World, and one of the tracks I found in it has got me puzzled: the main theme. As you may know, this theme has been used in various other Mario games, like DDR Mario Mix (as Starring! Wario) and Mario Power Tennis (in Wario's Factory stage). The only problem I have is that in my own copy of Wario World I've never heard this music at all. You'd think it would be used right at the start, but at least in my PAL copy, it's nowhere to be found. So, I ask you guys: does your version have this main theme, and if so, where is it played? This has been bothering me, since the tune seems to pretty popular and I haven't a clue why I can't find it in its supposed place of origin. Sorry for being so long-winded and thanks for any possible help.

I can remember hearing it in a Wario World trailer. Maybe they originally wanted to put it in the game, but removed it later.

I'm positive that music is in the game. I'll stick Wario World in tonight and listen out for it. And yes, I have the PAL copy as well.

Sorry to breathe down your neck, Fryguy, but did you find it?

Sorry for being a pest, but shouldn't this be in the Cameos board.
Just a thought.

It's fine here - it only mentions a cameo, but really it's a Wario World enquiry rather than a cameo discovery. The music is in the game: it appears in the Greenhorn Forest - the very first level

The music is in the game: it appears in the Greenhorn Forest - the very first level Actually, the music in Greenhorn Forest isn't the tune I'm talking about. The theme music I found from the data rip I mentioned is the same tune, yes, but more extensive and faster. As minimario mentioned, you can hear a cut from the version I'm talking about in the trailer found on the official site: www.nintendo.co.jp/ngc/gwwj/deban/index.htmlI guess they really didn't use this version in the game at all, which I find rather weird. Or maybe it's just in the Japanese version. Go figure. Thanks for your help, both of you.

What's worth mentioning is that the Mario DDR music is quite heavily remixed. So it won't sound identical to the original track. I'm puzzled as to what you're thinking of. Please enlighten me

Well, it's just that this un-used version of the theme actually resembles the music used in both Mario Power Tennis and Mario DDR a lot more than the Greenhorn Forest one. I think the best explanation I could give would be to send you the track and the Winamp plug-in needed to play it, but they're a hefty 2,5 MBs in size. Another choice would be for you to download the whole rip by yourself, but I don't know if you can be bothered, since it's a even larger download (123 MB). Still, here's the site for both the rip and the plug-in: hcs64.com/bonus/DSP/www.hcs64.com/in_cube.html

I'm very confused as to what you mean now. I downloaded the plugin and the music, but I don't understand which one you are referring to as the "unused" one. The wario_0.dsp track is the Greenhorn Forest track.
Please be as specific as you can about what you mean, and include tracks you think may be suspicious, because that music in that video sounds nothing like the Wario World theme used in Mario DDR or Mario's Tennis.
Thanks for the plugin links though!! *download frenzy*

You're welcome, and sorry, I should have been more specific. The unused main theme is the theme0.dsp track. That's the one used in the video, and if you listen to it fully, you can hear that's it's roughly the same tune that the Greenhorn Forest one, although it has some exclusive parts, specifally the section which starts at 0:40. That part isn't included in Greenhorn's music, but is used in Mario Power Tennis track, at least. I hope you can make some head and tail of my ramblings...
