Yep, Super Mario Bros. 2 (the Lost Levels) and Mario's Super Picross have been released on the Virtual Console in Europe. SMB2j is only available until the end of September!
I haven't checked US releases or anything, but this is great news for ME! Tomorrow is gonna be expensive.

Wow. A time limit? That's odd.

Aye, it's a special promotion for Europe so far. It's going to last for three weeks. All I remember of the other games is that Sin and Punishment is due in two weeks. Oh, and Picross isn't translated at all, just to give a heads up, Fry.

Not translated at all? Why the higher price, then? I assumed it was because they actually had to work on it.

Yeah, when I found that out - what a ripoff! The fact the game was never localized should make it cost LESS than normal - not more!
Nintendo, I love you sometimes. But maybe you should actually DO what you say. "Don't take the easy" as Iwata ironically said. Put in some effort or don't bother.

Considering how they've handled VC releases so far, I'm guessing they had to emulate the games on the PAL VC in a certain way. Maybe not a lot of effort - I don't know - I'm not a programmer. But I doubt it was as easy as uploading the ROM.
And it plays brilliantly. WiiShop was down for a few hours (for maintenance) before the update, so I'm guessing they did something special.

Ah, of course... they need to be converted to run on PAL systems. Why didn't I think of that? I'm going to wait for Sin & Punishment. Of all the games in the list, that's the one that's intrigued me the most.

The fact the game was never localized should make it cost LESS than normal - not more! It does cost less than if you had to import it back then when the original was released.

I don't care... 600 Wii Points does not amount to a lot of money. And now I have the game! It is excellent - so much better to have it on my big screen rather than... err... on a little emulated window...

What the.... why are they available only till the end of September? That sucks for a lot of us... what if some Europeans don't have Wiis yet and they get it on October but it is too late.. they won't get SMB2j ever.

SMB2j isn't that big a deal... this is the first time we've had it in it's original form, but we did get it included in Super Mario All Stars and Super Mario Bros. Deluxe. I'm not worried about missing it.
