The Nintendo GameCube is still active...for a short while. Why? Because Zelda: Twilight Princess was released for it. If any of you want to look back to when the Nintendo GameCube was at E3, watch this video titled " The Nintendo Difference".

"And you call it: Game Cube"
After all these years I just realised how stupid GameCube sounds.

That's the first time I've seen that video.
So many of those games were cancelled... it's a real shame. What the heck was Raven Blade? That was also the first time I saw Donkey Kong Racing. And Metroid Prime doesn't even hint that it's a First Person Shooter.
Another great part about that video was how it showed short clips from the intro to Smash Brothers Melee... making you think some of those clips might be from other games.
Oh well.... Gamecube was a pretty good system overall. People give it alot of crap... but in actuality... it didnt' cost a fortune (PS3), and it didn't have massive hardware failures (360) and it lasted the entire generation. It had some fun games, and that's all that really matters.

^ Raven Blade was an RPG (with real-time combat) that was being developed by Retro Studios. They had about three or four other games in development when they started on Metroid Prime, and all of them ended up being canceled. Raven Blade was the last of those to be canceled, which disappointed GameCube fans because it actually looked kinda cool. minimario, at least they didn't name it something embarrassing, like...

Ah, the memories. A video from when the GameCube was exciting then new rather than comfortable and familiar. It's strange to be able to watch the video and know that some of the games are great, some are bad, and some don't even exist.

The Gamecube may not have been the success of the NES, SNES, or Wii... but it's still one of my favorite generations. It gave us Metroid Prime, The Wind Waker, Super Mario Sunshine, Pikmin, and a slew of other games.

World's most annoying thing ever:
Nintendo creates a console jam-packed with excellent games, from platformers to adventures to real-time strategy games to fighting games to FPSs. The games get rave reviews. Good word spreads from owners. But it sells really badly.
Nintendo creates a console with an innovative controller, but hardly ANY games on it. It sells through the bloody roof.
Proof if needed, that the customer is always wizzling wrong!

But I never bought a Gamecube because I had a PS2, so I bought my Wii to make up for mistreating Nintendo.

The Gamecube definitely was a low-key system, and although the N64 had a much bigger impact on me, I have some fond memories of the GCN era. Some of my favorite games - Wind Waker, Sunshine, Pikmin, Paper Mario 2, and of course, Melee - came out of it...
