So, I watched Guru Larry's Retro Corner at ScrewAttack.com today. The video was called Punch-Out 2, so I assumed that it would be about Super Punch-Out. I was completely wrong.
As it turns out, Nintendo gave Beam Games (AKA Melbourne Publishing AKA Krome Studios Melbourne) permission to develop Punch-Out 2. However, the quality of the game was so poor that Nintendo pulled the plug on the game. It was later released as Power Punch II by American SoftWorks.

Heh. Often imitated. Never duplicated. So many other developers completely missed what made Punch-out!! such a great game. You can read about Power Punch II in Hardcore Gaming 101's Punch-out!! article. It's about halfway down the page.
