Right, time to put your Nintendo-Love Caps on. I have been sent a newly-found occurrence of Kazumi Totaka's song in Japan-only Kaeru no Tameni Kane ha Naru. BUT: I only know it's in there thanks to the ripped GBS file. For those of you who don't have the GBS file, download it (and GBS players) over at www.zophar.net. For those who already have the GBS sound rip and players, listen to track 22 until around about 3:33... the music drops and Kazumi Totaka's song plays. Now the hunt begins! Where in the game is this sound file found. It's been a very long time since I played it, and my save option has long since perished. Anyone willing to help me hunt it down? It's a good excuse to sit down a play what is a fantastic game by Intelligent Systems if nothing else. The hunt begins. Sign up, and post results, in this topic.

FryGuy was talking about a GBS file, so I guess it's a GameBoy game. No idea what kind of game it is though.

Bah! It's all on the website, people www.planetnintendo.com/nindb/dmg/ok.shtmlIt is a top-down adventure game, developed by Intelligent Systems and Nintendo RD1. It contains a lot of Japanese text, but I managed to get quite far without it... sadly I lost my save file. One character, Prince Richard (and his frogs, and the Kaeru overworld music) made cameo appearances in LOZ: Link's Awakening. This is the game he is from. It's one of the better GB games, and I'm saddened that it was never released outside of Japan. A sure contender for the most-needed-to-be-translated award.

This inspired me to play Kaeru again. And what do you know, I found the music. It plays in the third village inside one of the buildings. However, the building isn't there the first time you enter the village, it appears a bit more later in to the story. If you want, Fryguy, I can send you an emulator save file through e-mail, so you can see it and hear for yourself.

That would be very very VERY very welcome. ;D And that would reveal the "secret" that you two use emulators. Is it a Zelda-style game? Kazumi Totaka's song hunting has become one of the fun thigs that we share... Anyway, can you explain which part of the story do you mean exactly by "a bit more later in to the story", Kurpitsa?

It's not much like a Zelda game, as fights are automatic, there aren't as many puzzles, and there's a lot more talking. It's somewhere between Zelda and a traditional RPG, I'd say.

Alright, Fryguy, I send the file to your e-mail. I actually send you two messages because I forgot to put the file on the first one. Let me know if there's any problems. YoungLink, after you first enter the third village you have to return to the first village, and from there you have to go to that big Russian-style castle in the middle of the island to rescue some people. After you do that, the building with the song appears in the third village. So it's really not that much later.

ALERT: Another occurrence of the song has been brought to my attention, though I have no way of verifying it.
MARIO ARTIST: TALENT STUDIO (64DD) There is a cut scene where a man is driving along a country road too fast, hitting 100mph. The scene cuts to a pedestrian crossing the road on the other side of a tunnel. The music that plays when the pedestrian is crossing is Totaka's Song.
Can anybody help me verify this one at all?
And a huge thanks to Kurpitsa! The Kaeru no Tameni one will be added shortly.
