I received an email today from someone claiming there's a Golden Sun reference in Animal Crossing. Would anyone be able to verify this?
Has anyone else come across Gulliver saying this? Has anyone gotten that far in Golden Sun? I'm a no on both accounts ;D

One word.
NO
(I'm sure thats false. The game was hardly out then. They must have had trouble even mentioning Paper Mario)

Actually, it had been out nearly a year by that time. So a reference is entirely possible in that regards.

No, he's talking about the US Gamecube one. There are MANY differences between the Japanese N64, Japanese Gamecube and American Gamecube versions - not least complete revisions of text, game content, seasons, etc. The US version's text was completely revised again, giving it a more American slant. This makes it likely that any vocal cameos in the US version are very likely NOT in the Japanese version. That doesn't mean I won't include them.
Ignore the Japanese versions. Does Gulliver say this in the US Gamecube version or not?

I haven't seen it myself, but next time I play AC, I'll see if I can find him.

"After talking to Gulliver (the bird-sailor) and getting the item, talk to him a few more times. He may say (something like), "... and then there was the time I fought those giant sea snakes at Pinnacle Rock... oh, wait, that wasn't me!"" - who was that?
Also it says what is apparantly a Goron in Redds tent. It does look kinda like one. And don't forget the Nintendo Power reference- with Pokemon Pikachu
Desert shirt worn by Ganondorf... thats about it.

I've never been asked about Nintendo Power... ever! And I have an imported US version of the game.

Yeah, there is a Nintendo Power reference. Sometimes an animal will ask you to help them navigate the maze in the back of their Nintendo Power. Never heard the Golden Sun reference, though.

I believe that was Link, in Majora's Mask. I may be wrong though.
