I've been toying with a number of ideas for a new site design for quite some time now, as long-term members may remember. Well, I've got a new one... or rather a vastly improved variation on a much loved old one. Out with the grey and in with the blue! www.planetnintendo.com/nindb/test/index.shtmlGive me your feedback and all that. You should be able to browse around the pages within the test section just fine, but the menu links probably won't work too well. For long-term readers of the site, I guess I got a little nostalgic for the brighter blue and sprites in the menu bar

Hmm...
It would take a bit of getting used to... but... I think it's OK.
I don't know if you wanted honesty, or praise... ;D
Honestly, I think it could work quite well, so if that's what you go with, then who am I to say you should do otherwise. Go for it!
;D

A much more practicle design then what you've got going now, but I think those colors are somewhat ugly. I guess I just don't like the light blues/purples like that.

Give me back the good ol' design! T_T
Well just kidding. quite well done!
What I want to see in the new interface is that to have Mario, Link, Samus and the Earthbound dudes removed. I don't dislike it, it's just the style don't match.

I would say maybe give the menu a tiny bit of margin on the left, and see what it looks like when the body isn't so far away from the edges.

To clarify points so far: 1. I wanted honesty, so I can tweak it somewhat. 2. I know some people didn't like the blues and purples when the site was made up of them way back in the olden days. But I'm a lot more keen on them than the current colour scheme... I wanted the site to be brighter, I wanted the site to be blue... and I tried to hit a compromise on the body text, as I received some emails way back saying white on blue was too hard to read. 3. I'm not removing the sprites... but I may move them. I like having sprites in the navigation... makes the site look like it has something to do with Nintendo. 4. The menu was the last thing I did, so a little bit of a margin slipped my eye As for the body text, I agree that it's got too large a margin. But this is how it will look if I directly transfer the new includes and CSS file without making any changes to individual HTML files. The page I was working on the design for had much smaller margins for the body, but that would require editing each page (again)... Deezer (or anyone else), do you know of any good resources for CSS property tags? I'm kinda working blind on what can be added to a CSS file and what can't. 5. The current design is rubbish. Shut up.

How about you try blue on white?

I did, but it was too sterile, so I went for a bluey-white instead, and that's why bits are a bit purple. What's wrong with purple anyways

I'm disheartened by the lack of Tingle anywhere. Were you not even able to get a sprite of him from Oracles or FSA or Minish Cap?
It looks okay, a little 'bland' maybe. But you know me, I go overboard on my own layouts.
Nothing wrong with purple. I love purple in a layout, as well as dark blue. It's such a, I dunno, pleasing color to look at.

I really like it! I love the sprites on the menu!
P.S. Do you use CSS or HTML for the menu? What font/typeface did you used for the menu as well?

I use HTML and CSS for the menus. The font is Arial on everything except the title... which is Stop.
You're right, Masamune... no Tingle... but luckily I still need a sprite or something for the "return to the top" button I'm installing in the footer. Tingle would be marvellous there, darling!!
