I found these in the new issue of Nintendo Power.
1.In Odama you play Kagetora, son of Yamanouchi. Maybe it's just a coincidence, but YAMAnoUCHI looks like Yamauchi.
2.In Odama the goal is to carry the "Ninten Bell" to the other side of the pinball field.
3.Eggplant Man is a character in Chibi-Robo.
4.Professor Oyamah/Professor E. Gadd is named after the man who created him, Yoshiyuki Oyama.

Interesting stuff. I had heard about the Yamanouchi one before... there was some other stuff in the game's story that rang true of Yamauchi as well. I'd need to see something about the Eggplant Man. If they just share a name then it's probably not a cameo - as Eggplant Man (from Wrecking Crew) is called "Metaman" in Japan. Didn't know that about E. Gadd though!

He's actually called Kid Eggplant in Chibi-Robo, but he looks exactly like the trophy in SSBM.

Yamanouchi is a Japanese surname. I don't think it's intended to be a cameo.

From the Nintendo US website:
I think there's a chance this is referring to Yamauchi... the whole "Way of Ninten" is a humorous reference, if nothing else.

The latest Nintendo Power says that Odama is full of Nintendo references, so we'll have to keep our eyes open.

If you pick up the newest Nintendo Power you'll be able to see a screenshot of the eggplant man, if you want proof.

No, we have Nintendo Official Magazine UK, which is completely different, and completely awful (so much so that I've stopped reading it... Me, the biggest Nintendo fan EVARR!!!)

It has been taken care of, courtesy of Mr. David Dayton (of TMK and the Nintendo Code Book). I will put it up shortly. Just been a bit bogged down with the SNES section and other stuff preventing me from working on the site (which is alleviated this weekend! Three days of no plans!)
