This is kind of bizarre. I know we knew about this one, but never had concrete confirmation. And this still doesn't give an exact method, but IGN just uploaded a bunch of "classic" videos they'd done in the past, and one of them just happens to be the rumored cut scene in which the song indisputably begins to play, though the end of the song either never happens, or isn't in the video. I don't think they know what they have there. Scroll down to the video titled "Tal-ent Maker."My local camp has actually procured a copy of this software, but we don't have a 64DD to play it on yet. I'm now confident that once we do, we'll be able to nail that scene down better.

Awesome, awesome stuff! I think you could actually find a video of that scene on YouTube as well. If I remember rightly, it had a Japanese name.
Don't suppose there have been any leads for Wave Race 64 or Wii Sports your end have there?
What I'd like to track down are the non-time-edited N64 sound files. At the moment they all cut off after looping twice, so if the song's hidden in there, it's been cut out.

I've got zero on Waverace, and as for Wii Sports, I wonder whether that game isn't just a portion of what Totaka considers a whole suite of Wii music he's responsible for. Maybe it's in the Shop Channel, Photo Channel, system menu or who knows what.

Don't suppose you're in touch with anyone who could rip the Wave Race 64 soundtrack without putting in timings, are you? As I'm not

You can take out the timings... I'm not sure of the exact method, since I haven't done it in a long time... but it's possible. I used to do it because I like to listen to the songs until I'm tired of them. I'll see if I can find out. EDIT: Ah, easy. I'm assuming you're playing them in Winamp? Just right click the track and look at the file info... there's a field that says "Length". Just enter a longer time in there. I thought you could get it to loop forever by leaving it blank, but it seems to default to 3:10 if you do that... EDIT 2: Found the way around that, too. While you're looking at the file info, just click "Configure Plugin" and then select "Play Forever". In fact, if you do that, you don't have to change the timings at all. That's a much better way around it.
