I know someone who claims the song plays when you get a tie in boxing. I havent been able to test it, as getting a tie is EXTREMELY HARD!
It could be it, ties are pretty rare (i'm had only one happen to me when boxing an AI). But then I would assume that you could easily set up ties using 2 players though (I don't own a second Nunchuck).
Interesting how all these supposed findings require you to complete difficult tasks rather than just wait for a while like nearly every confirmed finding so far. Kind of reminds me of those claims that you can unlock Sonic in SSBM by KO'ing 25 or so opponents in Cruel Melee.
I've tried waiting on mostly every screen for around 5 minutes. I'm pretty sure this is an easter egg one like Mario Paint or Animal Crossing.
Ok here I am again. Getting a tie in boxing... does not seem to work. It's easy to do acually get one of the guest miis and block the entire match, the opposing mii will simply hit your gloves. Both players end with 3 poins.
Ok so I hit the "Hit it Here" sign and nothing happened, and it wasn't on the full.
Also, I noticed that some of the crowd was chanting something, but it wasn't clearly audible over other crowd members "wooing" and whistling". I doubt it is Totaka's song, but might be worth a little investigation.
I haven't really looked (I just don't have enough patience to find it xP) But I have a theory as to how you might be able to find it. Many resources mention that totaka hides his song in tracks or parts of tracks that are rarely heard such as the later part of the game over track in Super Mario Land 2. Now, I don't know about you, but I don't hear whatever jingle plays when you get a grand slam in b-ball or a turkey in bowling every day. I think these could be possible locations of the song. It could also be similar to Yoshi touch-and-go where you have to pause it at a certain point in order to hear it. One last theory is that it could simply be something similar to Mario Paint where you click on something, possibly one of the letters or images in the banners that read "Homerun" ot "Strike" perhaps?
Note: These are only theories, not necessarily the true locations.
Had another email about Totoka's Song in Wii Sports.
Hi fryguy! I have just recently found out about Totakas hidden song over the internet, and I wanted to be the one to discover it on wii sports, and i kinda have! In most of the games that the song is hidden, you usually have to wait a while on a partular screen. So I tried this on many possible screens, like your final score for bowling, or the player select screens for the different sports. I tried alot of these combinations. I even tried clicking on the 'O' in Wii Sports, like on mario paint. But then one day, I was doing my daily wii fitness thingy, and I got a score of 23 (no need to brag, but its a great score), and just out of habit and curiosity, i waited a while on the results screen. Im not sure how long it was because I didn't time it but after a minute or two,a really high pitched and disorted tune started playing, IT SOUNDED JUST LIKE TOTAKAS SONG, BUT MADLY DISORTED!! I swear its true! After it finished, It went back to the normal song, so I clicked done.
I emailed my friends, and told them. We were all looking for the song together about a month ago but they kinda lost interest, but they didnt really beleive me. I was planning film it with my phone to prove to them. So I tried again tomorrow for my next wii fitness thing and I got a score of 27. Nothing played. Tried the next day. 28. Waited on the results screen, and nothing. I did my wii fitness every day for a month after that, and the best score I got was 25. I was looking on the internet, to see if anyone else found this high pitched version of the song, and I came across Kazumi Totakas wiki page, I saw that he was born on the 23rd of August. 23rd!! That maked sense, right?? Then I came across your website and decided to e-mail you about it, because I could find no other info about it on the internet.
Thanks, Ben Chiappa.
P.S. If you do rediscover this, could you please make a video, or at least a sound track, because I want to rub it in my friends face!!
I haven't put Wii Sports into my Wii for years. Any thoughts? Can anyone replicate this?
I'm always suspicious of any information that is followed immediately by "I swear it's true!" Mostly because usually it's preceded by something about making your penis eight feet long if you send them your credit card.
But if anybody can do it, I guess it's worth a look!

That e-mail really sparked my interest in totaka's song again, so I decided to pop Wii Sports into my dusty ol' Wii after a year or so. After two days and a dozen mii changes I managed to get a fitness score of 23. I waited for 10 minutes at the score screen, and nothing! he was full of hogwash The mystery lives on i guess..

Unless he isn't hiding it in the soundtrack at all. Who knows? It's an Easter Egg. If he's still hiding it, he could start getting clever.
And I'd hardly say "Finding it" with a soundtrack dump. More like "Figuring out with vaguely more precision where to look," which isn't the same because that doesn't tell you how to get it to actually play. Plus, that takes the fun out of it!
Gametrailers Pop Fiction series did an episode on Totaka's Song in Wii Sports (even mentioning NinDB TS section on it), two guys claim to have found it in tennis, when a rally gets going, the sound each racket makes supposedly matches up with each note of Totaka's song. Of course this requires video edits to link up each tennis swing (which GT does).
After hearing it though, it still doesn't sound right though.
Nester the Lark: Here's an archive of results from the Everybody Votes channel. I found my poll question in the US English section for September 1, 2009.

nocturnal YL: Do you consider yourself to be more of a ... Romantic: 39.1% Realist: 60.9% This one, right? So… what's your own vote to that question? (I'd have picked realist.)

Nester the Lark: ^ At the time, I think I picked romantic. Not sure what I'd pick today. I feel like I'm somewhere in between.

nocturnal YL: …Why am I still seeking gaming news when I have 7 games yet to complete and at least 2 more that I plan to get? (EDIT — Oh right, Ys IX has a confirmed release date. That makes at least 3 games I'll get later.)
Jun 14, 2021 10:18:41 GMT -5
nocturnal YL: My current plan is to play Atelier Firis DX now, which online guides suggest is long. Atelier Lydie & Suelle DX will likewise be long (longer than the original too, due to DLC, DX additions and I'll make the best items). I'll maybe play Ys Origin after.
Jun 14, 2021 10:28:43 GMT -5
nocturnal YL: Not sure about what I'll play after. Another Atelier game will probably be out by then, either completing the Secret series or giving us Arland 5. Either way, I'll probably play those before going elsewhere. Dusk will have to wait for quite a bit…

Nester the Lark: Wondering if I should get Mario Golf at launch or wait a couple of months. I have so many other things to play that my gaming (and wallet) might need a little breathing room.

Nester the Lark: The problem with playing Hyrule Warriors and a modern Ys game at the same time is that even though the combat feels somewhat similar, the controls are completely different, and I get confused.

Shrikeswind: Yeah I'm here, but kinda vaguely. Sorry, I haven't had too much to say lately.

Shrikeswind: By the way, I don't know if you guys have been keeping up with OCR on YouTube, but apparently they're dropping an album for a game I grew up on, Jet Force Gemini. Really pumped; I'll post a review when they finish.

Nester the Lark: I feel like I've been neglecting the forum more than usual lately. Been distracted by other things. I'll try to post something when I get the chance.
Jul 16, 2021 10:38:22 GMT -5
nocturnal YL: I don't have time to make posts. Atelier Firis DX takes forever to play. When I'm not playing, I'm in a read-only mode, reading guides and watching (unrelated) videos.
Jul 17, 2021 13:25:38 GMT -5
nocturnal YL: On that note, I'll probably make a review on the whole trilogy, so it will be a while until I talk about these games in details here. I can say Atelier Firis DX has far exceeded my expectation and has taken over Totori as my 3rd fav.
