nocturnal YL: The pattern in the last generation was that Nintendo would have a June presentation to talk about the rest of the year (something the Switch 2 Direct and the general Direct prior covered), but usually in general terms ("coming 202X"). Nothing fishy so far. Aug 2, 2025 12:46:18 GMT -5
nocturnal YL: After a few weeks of inactivity, I restarted Mask of the Luna Eclipse at Easy, closely following a guide. And I ended up resetting the game so much that it puts the old Fire Emblem games to shame. Missed spectres? Reset. Items getting ghost-handed? Reset. Aug 3, 2025 1:46:17 GMT -5
Nester the Lark: I was interested in the Gradius Origins collection, but I think the price is a little high for what it is (especially compared to other Konami collections). At this point, I need to get back in the habit of waiting for things to go on sale. Aug 4, 2025 9:02:44 GMT -5
Nester the Lark: I just watched an episode of the old TwinBee anime, and I was caught off-guard by how increasingly fan-servicey it got. Aug 4, 2025 17:48:11 GMT -5
nocturnal YL: So after some very slow progressing and being rather nervous about the whole thing, I finally finished Phase 1 of Mask of the Luna Eclipse. My initial attempt at Normal made me nervous about getting into battles and potentially losing lots of items. Aug 9, 2025 9:34:20 GMT -5
nocturnal YL: But in my second, Easy attempt, I was only attacked 4 times: Natsuki Shiono (the woman after the battle against Kazuto Amaki) and Tadayuki Kaido each grabbed Ruka twice. Kazuto and Madoka were first-try Fatal Frame, Type-07 only, no health loss. Aug 9, 2025 9:38:47 GMT -5
nocturnal YL: Also the building itself is a worse enemy than the ghosts. They can go behind walls and make the camera lose focus, which doesn't sit well with me since I already dislike first-person games. Unlike real life, you don't have any periphery vision. Aug 9, 2025 9:43:29 GMT -5
nocturnal YL: I guess I'm being a bit too worried about this game in terms of resource management? The general consensus seems to be that beyond the scary appearance, difficulty-wise it's actually quite easy. I hardly agree, but I guess it's manageable at Easy? Aug 9, 2025 9:45:32 GMT -5 *
nocturnal YL: More resetting. After missing the Girls Running Under Stairs for 4 times, I screamed in excitement when I got both that and the Girls Looking Into Room in a single swoop. I thought I'd get the former but not the latter and would need a few more retries. Aug 10, 2025 5:30:03 GMT -5
nocturnal YL: I think I'm actually starting to get interested in this game. Aug 10, 2025 5:30:39 GMT -5
Nester the Lark: I've started the demo for Atelier Yumia since it's the only Atelier game on the NA eShop that has a demo. Aug 12, 2025 12:35:08 GMT -5
nocturnal YL: I updated my YouTube channel to add a few videos. Although I capture a lot of stuff, they're usually story cutscenes. Few of what I have are gameplay clips I find interesting enough to upload. Aug 16, 2025 10:23:53 GMT -5
nocturnal YL: I also changed the thumbnails of my review videos because the old ones don't look like YouTube thumbnails. Aug 16, 2025 10:24:52 GMT -5
Nester the Lark: How unpopular are game-key cards? NISA's collector's edition of Trails Beyond the Horizon is sold out on PS4/5, but the Switch 2 edition that comes on a game-key card still has 100% stock left. (Switch 1 is at 75%.) Aug 16, 2025 10:46:04 GMT -5

nocturnal YL: I don't feel comfortable commenting on this for a console that's 2 months old (remember, back when PS5 was new, no one bothered to buy PS5 versions either), but I do hope this can somehow push them away from key cards. (I blame Nintendo more, by the way.) Aug 16, 2025 11:31:58 GMT -5
nocturnal YL: I do want to see full games contained in the game cards, generally speaking. Not so much about the ownership aspect (we're already past that point, given that save data are tied to update versions), but that modern games are huge and SD cards not so. Aug 16, 2025 11:35:03 GMT -5
Nester the Lark: For comparison, Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma was on a physical card, and it was reportedly one of the better-selling third-party Switch 2 games at launch (along with Cyberpunk, also on physical card). Aug 16, 2025 12:00:43 GMT -5
Nester the Lark: I also think back to the launch of Switch 1, when pretty much anything on the console was selling like hotcakes. Disgaea 5 Complete was a big launch title. Aug 16, 2025 12:03:09 GMT -5
Nester the Lark: But to play devil's advocate, maybe this has more to do with the sort of person who would buy a collector's edition. Key cards would be all the more unattractive to them. Aug 16, 2025 12:07:11 GMT -5 *
