Nester's name in Startropics...yeah. I need to play that game again, stuck on chapter 3 or 4.
GRASS HUTS? C SHAPED ISLAND? STARS? Sounds like Startropics to me. Both are American games. Sorta.

The Nester article also mentions that Nester (as well as Howard) appeared as townspeople in a game called Dragon Warrior.

Err... I'd love to see some screens of this, because this is the first time I've heard of either of these anywhere.
Don't forget, Wikipedia is editable by anybody.
Although the Crescent Island one sounds more like a coincidence. Aside from the vague shape, there are no similarities at all.

I can verify the StarTropics and Dragon Warrior cameos, but it's worth mentioning that Nester doesn't really "appear" in the games.
In the case of StarTropics, his name is simply mentioned as an in-joke. In Chapter 5, you talk to someone named "Bate" who asks if you want to hear the ABC's of fishing. Say "no," and he responds "Is your name Nester?"
In Dragon Warrior, his character sprite is simply the same as a dozen other townsfolk. Only the dialog identifies him as Nester. I can't remember the names of the towns, but there's one where a character says, "Doest thou know Nester? I think he may need help." Later on in the game, you actually run into him, but I can't remember what his dialog is. There's also a similar reference to Howard. Both references were removed in the Game Boy Color cartridge, Dragon Warrior I & II.
Nester actually does appear in NES Play Action Football as the commentator after a game, announcing the winner and loser.
I didn't realize Nester was eligible for inclusion as a cameo on the site since he wasn't really a video game character. (Nester's Funky Bowling didn't come out until much later.)

Of course he is! It's an out-of-universe reference to a Nintendo-created character And as I'm pretty sure Dragon Warrior was originally translated to English by NoA, you'd better catch up on sending some screenies After all, I figured his only cameo was in Pilotwings 64

If I had the means to take screen shots, I'd nab the StarTropics one for you. (And while I'm proving my memory to be faulty, the guy's name was Hook, not Bate.) But I have no intention of playing Dragon Warrior again, and I don't even own NES Play Action Football.

Nester's a game character. Perfectly acceptable as one. In fact, I can see him being like a Nintendo Power 9-Volt, both love gaming in a near obsession. Er. Obsession.
I dunno if Lark's a cameo, it's most likely actually Nester as a lead role in a game for the second time.

He's not. He's a comic book character, but created by a videogame company. Nonetheless, this isn't called Nintendo Game Database, so he's perfectly acceptable.
