OK, haven't finished it yet, but I've noticed a few so far:
The fight with the second boss (big pirate skeleton) is a parody of Punch Out.
Tingle uses a big computer resembling a DS to contact Pinkle, but when Pinkle contacts him in the field he pulls out a GBA shaped Tingle Tuner.
Many references to the Zelda series of course, but do you want to classify those as cameos or just series continuity (for example, in the "Deku Temple" dungeon, a remixed Saria's Song is the background music.)

Nice ones! I love so much the part where we actually hear the Saria's Song part!! Maybe... for a cameo... The Old Man Rupee is in shape of a rupee!!

Possible cameo: can anyone recognise the tune played when using the pirate ocarina? It sounds kinda familiar.

I'm not sure about Saria's Song either. Hmm... would that be in-series or a cameo? Hmmmm.... Well, the Punch-Out one is definitely a cameo we have known about for about a year. The DS one is definitely fitting also.

Yeah, there's all the Zelda stuff to think about: The appearance of the Deku Tree and Deku Sprout, all the familiar little musical keys when you get items or activate switches...
To cameo or not to cameo, that is the question!

Did you notice that people refer to Tingle as a human, not a hylian? The first instance I noticed was the Stalfos Captain. The only solid references I've seen so far to familiar creatures are the Stalfos Captain's name, and a statue of a Zora head off the coast of the second island.
Potential cameo: the question mark-shaped land mass, also on the second island: seems to be the exact shape of the original Super Mario Bros. question block mark.

People were referred to as humans in TP, too. I'm pretty sure Hylian is just a race, not a species. In other words, Hylians are still humans.

I just realized that the fountain in the plaza has old-fashioned Zora faces on it. So there aren't any actual Zoras (yet), but there are statues of both kinds of Zoras. That's noteworthy, right?

Did you notice that people refer to Tingle as a human, not a hylian? Well if you look at the artwork of Tingle first meeting Uncle Rupee, he has rounded ears.

Confused. Please explain in more detail and I will judge if it's a worthy addition OK. In the main town, there's a fountain depicting what looks like a zora (or a zola?) from the earlier games. Want to see the fountain? Check out the european Tingle website, under "learn more about rupees". Elsewhere, there is a statue of an older version Zora, or at least its head sticking out of the sea. It's noteworthy because the only other game to point out the two types of Zora is Oracle of Ages, just ONE game in the whole series. All the other games have either had one or the other.

OK, so a few more people have got this game now. Can anyone identify the Pirate Ocarina song? Is it even a cameo?
