In Tomato Adventure, the victory theme resembles Super Mario RPG's victory theme. What I mean is that both of these are songs that are played after you win small battles in both RPGs.
In Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga, there is some crab-looking creature with a Christmas Tree on top of it. This creature came from the sunken ship place in Tomato Adventure as an enemy.
A couple of Tomato Adventure soundtracks were found hidden in Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga after people dumped its entire track list into GSF files. Their quality is similar to the sound of Game Boy Color music, which probably means that they are the tracks used in the Game Boy Color prototype of Tomato Adventure, Gimmick Land. They were perhaps also used in Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga for testing its audio.

Oooh, I'll have to track down the GSF files for both. Sounds like a good cameo, that one.
If you're able to get me a screenshot of the lobster-christmas-tree enemy in Tomato Adventure, that's a definite cameo in M&L right there.

Well, M&L:SS is based on the engine of Tomato Adventure, and made by the same company.

If you're able to get me a screenshot of the lobster-christmas-tree enemy in Tomato Adventure, that's a definite cameo in M&L right there. The two Tomato Adventure sound files found in M&L:SS are both from the title opening of Tomato Adventure. Use this video to compare it to the unknown GSF files from Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga. Here is the screenshot of those Christmas lobsters: Well, M&L:SS is based on the engine of Tomato Adventure, and made by the same company. Well, not only that, but also Chihiro Fujioka produced both of them. And the reason why Geno appeared in M&L:SS, is that Chihiro Fujioka produced both, Super Mario RPG and the Mario & Luigi titles.

I forgot about Fujioka's hand in both Mario RPG projects. It also explains why the Paper Mario games were not as akin to Mario RPG and M&L was; Paper Mario lacks his involvement completely.

Where can I find the gsf set so i can judge for myself? Zophar's Domain. They even have Winamp plug-ins that will allow you to emulate the GSF files.

Yep, that's definitely what Hermie III was based off of.
I always wanted to try Tomato Adventure.

They updated Zophar? Wow. I didn't see it there under GSF.

Well, Zophar's Domain doesn't have the Tomato Adventure GSF file, but it does have the M&L: SS GSF file.
I listened to the victory themes of SMRPG and Tomato Adventure again, and they don't sound exactly the same, but they do sound similar.

Well Alphadream formed off of Squaresoft so it's likely they could have had inspiration from a previous project. And a lot of references are in M&L, too.

Then were is the Tomato GSF? It hasn't been made, yet. It's not required to compare the Tomato Adventure title opening theme to the two unknown tracks found in the M&L: SS GSF file. Use the video I posted earlier in this thread.

Huge necrobump, but I haven't seen this cameo mentioned on the site. It's a rather minor one but comes in the game rather lately. When you get outside Hanzou Lab 6 (links Soy City with Balsami Dome; it's the bottom left one on the map) it's a small dump site with several objects partially buried in the ground. Two of these are Game Boy Colors (well they look like Game Boy Colors but they have buttons like this "+---"), the top left one is a red Game Boy Color and the bottom right is a purple one. They both have smashed screens. I only have played through a real Tomato Adventure cartridge so unfortunately can't get any good screenshots at the moment. Shoddy 3DS Camera placeholder screenshot: Also, I think Parrothead mentioned this somewhere else on the Internet. The overworld map in Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga is reminiscent of the one in Tomato Adventure (with Bowser's Castle in the centre replacing the Gimmick Palace). edit 1: Also, I don't know what to make of this but one of the in-game sound effects (e.g. when one of the Hanzou brothers makes you a new Gimmick) sounds really similar to one of the horrible static noises when you pull a GBA cartridge out of the console when the game is still running. I manually pulled out Tomato Adventure but the sounds don't match, and since Koto Battle was GBC I don't know what to make of it, though maybe I should try it with Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga later < edit2: nope.
