Scattered throughout your town are various rocks. And each day, one rock has money in it, to which you can bang with your shovel to get all the money out. If you are too slow, you won't get much at all, but if you are fast enough, you can get lots of money. The cameo is, that when you hit the rock, a Mario 1-up sound effect will play for the last three bags of money.

The same thing occurs in the original Animal Crossing as well.

There's loads of text references like that in all the AC games. I need a text dump or something to make sure I get em all.

No, that counts. I'm just wondering if I want to count something that's in every Animal Crossing game. Cameos like that could easily fill up the site.
eg. Mr. EAD and James McCloud in the next F-Zero! Woo. Cameo!

I found another Animal Crossing: WW cameo.
Dr. Shrunk is a character that teaches you emotions, but you can only hold four. When you want to learn a new one, he says something along the lines of "Uh oh, you already know four emotions. Would you like to forget one in order to learn another?" *You choose either yes or no. If you say yes, he says* "Which emotion would you like to forget?" *You then choose which one* "Alright, one, two, three...SHRUNK!! You have successfully forgotten *name of emotion*"
In case you couldn't tell, this is a Pokemon cameo.
