I don't know about you guys, but that looks suspiciously much like Mike. The handgun is a strange touch, but Star Tropics was immediately where my mind went when I saw this monster.

Eh, I don't really see the resemblance, but this card looks like Articuno, and this looks like a Piranha Plant.

Methinks you're all trying too hard to make connections where there clearly are none.

A guy in a denim jacket, a ball with feet, a mole, an ice bird, and a comical version of a venus fly trap - none of these are cameos.

Game seems cool though, I hadn't heard of it before.

EDIT: Oh right right this thing. I thought it was a new version.

It still is pretty uncanny, in my mind. Not saying it's a definite cameo, but how the hell is that a monster and not something more? It's strange that he has a gun too, considering Mike uses one towards the end of Star Tropics

EDIT: The guy translates it on C-Island forums says the monster is called "Walter"

Varuteru? Definitely a V. Valter? Valtel? Vartel? Varter? Damn you Japan! ;D

He also looks nothing like Mike Jones, apart from that jacket. And even then, he's in an awkward pose, so you can't really see it. So no. I don't think he's a cameo at all.

The mole isn't a Muddy cameo. It's a mole.

The red ball one COULD be a Kirby cameo. A monster Kirby, perhaps? But I'm still not convinced.

Yaay! My work is spreeding! Anyway, on topic, I don't think that the creatures are made to resemble other series characters, it's like saying that Slaking is a DK cameo for example. And about the Kirby thing, well it's attack is to throw a little version of itself to a random part of the play area, not so Kirby like to me.
