I was interested in trying Red Steel at first, but then some reviewers said it made them feel nauseous. That's the reason I don't play a lot of FPS's, myself. If people who are used to playing FPS's got nauseous from Red Steel, what chance would I have?
So that, combined with the poor reviews, is why Red Steel will probably never be in the 3PS.

Poor reviews? Nausea? It's not apparent on the Wikipedia page.
In other words, I'd like a few more classic games on the 3PS.
In particular, Rockin Kats, Burgertime, and Panic Restaurant. Rockin Kats and Panic Restaurant are two original platformers of the time (using weapons instead of jumping).
But come on guys, when was the last time you had a 3rd Party Game that WASN'T licensed?

Uh, the second last 3rd party game I bought, Resident Evil 4, was not licenced. Nor are the majority of 3rd party games I've had (only various Simpsons and Star Wars games I've owned have been licenced).
Also I can't see why you don't understand that Corey is only doing 3PS write-ups on current games - so Wii games, DS games, (GBA Games?) and games released on VC. The three games you mentioned are not on any of these, nor are they likely to be in future, so they aren't eligible - or necessary, either, since they aren't notable games.
Your posts in this thread have been really strange, Whiskers (moreso than usual, which is saying a fair bit). Do you have some sort of problem with the idea that people might like good 3rd party games? Or is there some sort of other problem you have with these things? It just seems strange to me.

I don' t understand Whiskers' comment about licensed games, but I wouldn't dismiss Rockin' Kats or Panic Restaurant so quickly. True, they're not on the virtual console (yet), but if they were, I'd be very interested in trying them, as I've often heard good things about them.
I would also consider them notable specifically because they are not licensed or part of an existing franchise. Original IP's are somewhat uncommon these days, particularly as far as Nintendo's 1st party games are concerned. Sure, Rockin' Kats and Panic Restaurant may only be platform games, but hey, that's what the NES was best at, right?
So, they both could definitely be potential candidates for the 3PS.
Another original platform game from the NES I'd like to see on the VC is Metal Storm. It was a very challenging game from Irem (and possibly the same team that made R-Type) that used gravity manipulation as a gameplay mechanic. At the time, I remember the animation being fairly smooth for an NES game.

Technically, I don't understand why there is only VC/DS/Wii games on the 3PS. After all, it is the 3rd Party Showcase, not the Wii/VC/DS Showcase. The reason why Corey W is starting here (I think) is because the Wii and DS and VC are new because everyone knows about them. That is, if you started talking about old 3rd Party Games, people will say "'Princess Tomato and the Salad Kingdom'? Are you kidding? What drunken fool thought that up?" That's why we have people like Corey, to remention those old but great 3rd party games (NOTE: The game reference was put up not because Princess Tomato is a great game — it isn't, but there are dozens of old 3rd Party Games out there that need recognition)
Also, I meant the 3rd Party Games about Platformers, not 3rd Party Games in general.
Finally, I would like to say the "weird posts" were in part due to wild assumption, dreams, and miscommunication (on both parts). It stemmed from the first Genesis review on the 3PS. See, Genesis games and TurboGrafx stuff are fine, but why are these "resurfaces" enough to go into the 3PS? I'm convinced now, but it took several posts to get that across.
And one last thing, the "recent posts" of mine are just attempted great mini-databases and discussion ideas. I wanted to start a great conversation on things like "Club Nintendo Merchandise Compilation" or "64DD Thoughts: Ura Zelda". Why does everyone assume Ura Zelda is Master Quest? Ura Zelda had tons more stuff, new items and dungeons, not just rearranged stuff. And what do those Japanese get in Club Nintendo? Things like "Tingle's Balloon Fight"! Are you guys upset because I've changed my name twice in my time here (from Mr. Molecule to Mr. Whiskers to Whiskers to Santa Claws to Whiskers again?) Or are you still bitter about the "MC Kids" incident. Or you think my quotes make no sense?
Okay, I've calmed down now. Just keep making the 3PS Articles, they're cool. Should I try to round up screenshots/box art for the 3PS games, Corey?

What's the point in drawing peoples' attention to a game which isn't even available any more?

Essentially, yes, the 3PS only covers games for DS and Wii (and thus, Virtual Console) simply because they're the current platforms and it's easier to obtain games for them. It also narrows the scope of the feature, giving it more focus. I've already done an entire thread for the GameCube, and a special thread for N64. I thought maybe I could get away with sneaking a few GBA games in since the DS is backwards compatible, and there were some good 3rd party games available for it. Of course, I'm all for discussing 3rd party games for classic Nintendo systems. I love nostalgia gaming! Just because I don't make official features out of them doesn't mean we can't talk about them. That's what this forum is for! (Or is it what the Classic Nintendo forum is for? Now I'm confused about where stuff goes.) Nothing personal, Whiskers, but your posts do get confusing. It doesn't have anything to do with you changing your name or posting about M.C. Kids. (In fact, I thought it was pretty funny that it sparked so much discussion.) It's that it can be a little hard to make sense of your writing. I think maybe you tend to use the wrong words for what you mean to say. (Or maybe you just need to switch to decaf. ) Anyway, I'm not trying to insult you or anything. And no need to help with screenshots or box art. I'm a little particular about where I get those from because I don't want to just steal them from other sites. Thanks for the offer, tho.

In reality, I don't write as bad as I do on the Internet. The reason my stammered and poor writing is due to the fact that I used to have 56k, and a bit of writing can consume valuable phone time. And even today, I can't really re-proofread everything. Times a-wastin!

I don't see how Red Steel is worse than Metroid Prime. I think only in story and graphics, but in shooting things it's lots of fun.

'troid aint about shooting, tohugh - its about the whole package - adventure, exploration, and definately a fair helping of story, graphics and sound. I haven't played Red Steel but most reviews seem to suggest it lacks all of this, plus it does not seem to deliver on original expectations (having designated shooting sections and sword sections rather than allowing you to switch these up on the fly, for example).
And regarding Rockin' Kats and Panic Restaurant, I assumed they must have been crappy licenced games ala Whiskers' apparent favourite, MC Kids. Seems I was wrong.

How could a sword vs. gun battle be fair? The guy with the gun would win easily.

Its a game, though, so the sword could, say, reflect bullets, and then you could go up to the guy and slice his hand off.

Meh, I thought the way they did it worked well.
Though there was quite a few glitches.

Just to let everyone know, I created separate threads for all the old 3PS's since Fry thought it would be a good idea (and therefore, I think it's a good idea ). Plus, it gave my post count a boost... until I got carried away and accidentally created a couple of duplicates for features that already had their own threads. I also changed the links in the index to point to the new threads, and I reformatted it a little to avoid the random spaces that were appearing in the middle of linked words. (At least, that's what was happening on my screen.)

Yes... I had to clear those when putting them on the site as well Fantastico though! I shall promptly link to the threads so discussion may ensue!
