I have questions regarding this new rule on the the Third Party Board about the "4th Parties". Now, Disgaea is really not bad, because it somehow ties in to Nintendo, but what if these things get out of control? Soon, noobies will be attracted to this section and slowly transform it into "Offtopic". Watch the stages of disgression (complete with sample threads):

You mean topics about, oh say, school uniforms? If we have spammers, I don't think they'll much care what forum they use.
Anyway, I think most people have enough common sense to realize what belongs in the forums and what doesn't.

In all honesty, I don't see it getting that bad. If it does, Fry can take care of it...most people here have the common sense to figure out what goes into which board. Which isn't to say it won't happen...but I don't think it will.
In the case of my Disgaea topic, as you pointed out, I tied it to Fire Emblem...largely because I want to spread the Disgaea love to you all, and knowing people actually play FE here, I figured it'd be a nice pimping angle. Since Fry responded to the topic and didn't warn/lock/whatever, I'm not too concerned about it.

Erm, it's the Third Party Games forum (don't know where you all got this crazy idea of Fourth Party) which means any game in the world not developed by Nintendo can be discussed here.
So, you have your "4th Party" discussions and "General Gaming" discussions, which are all fine. Then you delve into the world of general computing, which isn't really fine, as it's not gaming. Then you delve into the world of general offtopic everything, which is just insane.
Why do you think this forum will dissolve into anarchy just because I now allow discussion of third party games? That says a lot more about your paranoia than it does about the limits of this board.

I could've sworn that I saw "4th Party" somewhere on this board. As you can see, the "devolution" of the board starts with topics still tying into Wii. It's just a little worrying, that's all.

Yeah, someone else used it, but it's meaningless. When you're on a Nintendo forum, talking about third-party includes all games that aren't developed/published by Nintendo, regardless of platform.
And for the record, Whiskers, this is the FIRST topic on this forum not to be about third party gaming. Therefore you may have triggered the digression yourself!
What a mindblower, eh? ;D

Eh, I see no harm in discussing games on other platforms here. I think most of us can refrian from degenerating the board into random garbage easily enough. ^_^
