3PS #25Bonk’s RevengeDeveloper: Hudson Soft, RED Entertainment Publisher: Hudson Soft System: Wii Virtual Console, TurboGrafx-16 The original Bonk’s Adventure introduced the world to the lovable little caveman with the giant head. Of course, one good Bonk deserves another, and the franchise continued with Bonk’s Revenge from Hudson Soft. This time, Bonk must go after the evil King Drool III who has stolen half of the moon and kidnapped Princess Za. As in the original game, he’ll bump heads with several nasty prehistoric meanies and power-up by eating tasty meat. Once again, Bonk proves that games don’t have to be complex to be fun. The game contains all the evolutions you would expect from a proper sequel. The graphics are more colorful and expressive. The levels are larger and more complex. The challenge has also been heightened from the previous game. Fans of the original should love this one as well. Even with tough competition from Mario and Sonic, Bonk’s Revenge is one of the finest platform games of the 16-bit era. It’s fun without being convoluted, yet it improves upon the original. And thanks to DNA cloning technology, the game is now available for the Wii Virtual Console. Original Release: 1991 (US, JP) Bonus Links: Hudson's official site. Gameplay footage.

So Bonk wasn't just another "90s anthropomorphic animal mascot platformer" types?
Really?

Well for starters Bonk isn't an anthropomorphic animal.
This one is the better of the two, right? I'm thinking a new platformer would be nice when I get some more points, but still not sure what to go with (probably Dragon's Curse / Trap / whatever it is, but maybe this)

From what I've heard, Revenge is an evolution from Adventure, adding in a bunch of new stuff and improving what worked in Adventure. I'll be DL'ing it whenever I get a system... *sigh*

Well for starters Bonk isn't an anthropomorphic animal. I meant it fell in the same category as Bubsy and all those other porcupines, and other ones...I can't list them all. Oh wait, you liked Bubsy, didn't you?

Bonk was technically the TurboGrafix 16's Mario/Sonic, so he had some status.
