Since Sega is a true "third party", I'm wondering about Sega PC. Not only did Sega PC port its games to Windows, it also made a few exclusives. According to Wikipedia, Expert Software acquired it, and Activision bought Expert and merged it with Head Games Publishing. This combined company became Activision Value. A quick Google Search did reveal Expert was selling the Sega PC by late 1998, so Yoot Tower must have been Sega PC's last title, since it was released in November 1998. That might also explain why support was so limited. But when did Expert buy out Sega PC? And why? I'm confused....

When I was working in Game in winter 2003 there were still Sega PC games on the shelves. Whether they were ancient stock that nobody had touched is another matter ;D

I believe I remember seeing a PC port of Sonic Heroes as recently as last year.

Yeah, Sonic Heroes is the slut of the 3d Sonic series, though (the original Sonic the Hedgehog is the 2D equivalent). It's been on every known platform of that generation, and I don't know if Sega PC had any hand in it so much as Sonic Team just trying to pass on as many venerial diseases as possible.

Really? I got the impression it was Sonic the Hedgehog 2007 that was the bad 3D one. Regarding SH, I looked at it at Target. It didn't seem very fun. It was like one of them space shooter "rail games".

By slut he means it appeared on every system ever. But it was a pretty awful game anyway. I've never played the PS3/360 game, and from the sounds of it I don't want to! ;D

Hehe at the above post.
And they did release Sonic 3 and Knuckles for Windows with Sega PC. That was awesome. I remember as a kid wanting it so bad because I never bought Sonic 3 for my Genesis (still haven't). But it had cool extra features, and it was already a pretty epic game. Oh yeah... Sonic Heroes was the biggest waste of "I have 20 dollars to get a new game because I'm bored and it's the heat of summer" money I ever spent >:/
