Today marks the six month anniversary (or semi-anniversary?) of the 3rd Party Showcase feature. And it was over eight months before that when I began writing the Third Party 'Cube Game of the Week. Inspired by nintybo--er, I mean Old Man Rupee's Unofficial Nintendo Awards, and in the spirit of promoting 3rd party games, I bring to you...

The Unofficial 3rd Party Awards!

Anyway, here's how it works: Below are the categories in which you can vote. You don't have to vote in all of them, just whichever ones you want to. You may vote for any third party game from the past year. Basically, as long as it's not listed on the NinDB, it counts as third party.

Vote by posting your selection below, or if you prefer a secret ballot, send me a private message with your selections. I'll post the results next Saturday, so you have one week.

NOTE 1: The games listed beneath each category are not nominations, but rather reminders/suggestions of some 3rd party games that were released in the past year. You can write in something else if you want to!

NOTE 2: I know the GBA and GC categories are moot at this point, but I thought I'd let them have their last moments, just for old time sake.

Phoenix is great, but I love me some Castlevania. ^_^

Best Wii Game:

Most Anticipated DS Game:
Heroes of Mana (Square-Enix)
Dragon Quest and Phoenix are both up there, but I think I'm most psyched for HoM...in the hopes that it will be the best Mana game in quite some time.

Most Anticipated Wii Game:
Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition (Capcom)
I'm a sucker for this game, I know it. But I love RE4. And if this sells well, maybe we'll get an original game with this gameplay engine.

Best Publisher:
Capcom
Phoenix Wright and Capcom Classics Mini-Mix easily earn my #1 Publisher choice, but the Enix side of Square-Enix isn't far off.

I think this game has a better chance of appealing to Western audiences than Killer 7 did. There probably need to be more designers like Goichi Suda "51" out there.

I think it's great that Phoenix Wright went from an unusual curio that grew in popularity by word of mouth alone into a chart-topping success worldwide. And while a couple of short months ago I had never contemplated playing it, the sheer passion of those who had was enough to convince me. It spread! Spread so well and made Capcom enough money for them to translate and release the third one too! That's the power of the people ;D

I haven't played SSX Blur, but it's going up my priorities list as Wii games just don't seem to be as forthcoming as one might hope. But MSG is great too!
