Beat would be nice. But I don't think they'll touch anything JSR, since Sega seems to want to forget the franchise...which is why you don't see a JSR area in Sonic Riders' two SEGA Franchise levels. Surprised why they wouldn't. You'd think even a character would have worked perfectly for that game. I'm a pessimist. Like I said, it helps to let myself down so gaming companies don't do it instead. And they're none too gentle, let met ell you that.
Besides, if they include a JSR character, all it'll do is rekindle the fire I have for a sequel to the series. It'd probably be better if they ignored the franchise entirely this way, because I know it ain't coming back, despite how much I want another one. Unless I feel like waiting for...how long has it been since the first NiGHTS game? Eleven years? Yeah, I'm only five into that eleven for JSR, even shorter if you count that crappy GBA version. I can't wait another six. I don't have that energy in me.

Sega have been focusing on remakes, licensed titles, and their biggest-selling franchises (read: Sonic) just lately, and ignoring everything else. It's a shame, but they haven't been doing so well financially. They're sticking to the stuff that they know is going to sell. Saying that, though, they've started bringing back a few franchises this year, as well as putting more work into ones that were lacking. It could be that they're more comfortable with their finances, and are going to start taking more risks with lesser-known stuff again. I certainly hope so, anyway.

Well, I wouldn't say that's what they are hurting financially. It's becuase they are turning out these games too fast and worry about profits now rather then the future. Sonic is the best example. If they kept the quality in the titles, then he'd still be selling, but since the games have sucked, they have dropped in sales. Sega now is realizing that you have to go broader. Rather then release a butt load of Sonic games, release a lot of different games. Having the big ones push the little ones, they can continue to prosper. They haven't figured that out yet though.

Actually, Sonic hasn't dropped in sales at all. Sonic '06 was a poor seller, due to most Sonic fans/little kids being Wii owners, but don't forget, pretty much every Sonic game released on the Gamecube became a Player's Choice title. The problem right now is that Sega realised people will buy Sonic games regardless of quality, and so things have gotten lazy. Sonic '06's poor sales were something of a wake-up call, though, and the head of Sega America is now very insistant about raising the quality. Still waiting to see if he'll actually deliver, though.

Well, I looked into the sales. The newer games are lower in terms of sales, but there is no trend. However, something interesting. The 3rd and 4th best selling games were Sonic Heroes on the PS2 and Sonic Adventure 2: Battle respectively. The games after have sold less and some like Sonic 2006 and S&tSR didn't even manage 1million units.

Hm, the new NP has some DS screens of this that reveal a stage that looks an awful lot like Jet Set Radio to me...I'll see if I can find them online.

Looks like a JSR course, but it's hard to tell. Looks like a city, and that's about it. I thought it could be Crazy Taxi, but I would assume that if that's the case, it would be in a street.

Can someone get me a screenshot? I'll be able to help you identify it.

This is what it looks like. TEi, I can't seem to find a picture of the stage on the internet, but if you can find the most recent issue of Nintendo Power, the pic is near the back

Does no one here subscribe to Nintendo Power and could scan the picture?! (how ironic would that be...a Nintendo forum where no one is subscribed to NoA's official magazine)

I currently have a subscription to NP, but I don't have a working scanner! Sucks, right?
But I checked the magazine and right there in one of the screens for the DS version is a court that definitely looks like it's from JSR. Nintendo Power even says as much in one of their blurbs. "Sega wouldn't tell us whether or not this court was from Jet Set Radio, but it sure looks like it!"

I can say that that court is probably a JSR court.
