My thoughts? Hooray!! Spore's always sounded like a wacky and awesome project! I'd get it.

I can see it working great on the Wii. Sounds fun!

Here's the original interview in which he mentions a Wii version. Also notable (and this is all over gaming news sites at this point) is where he says the Wii is the only true next-gen console: Somebody asked me what I thought next generation meant and what about the PlayStation 3 was next generation. The only next gen system I've seen is the Wii – the PS3 and the Xbox 360 feel like better versions of the last, but pretty much the same game with incremental improvement. Bu tht eWii feels like a major jump – not that the graphics are more powerful, but that it hits a completely different demographic. In some sense I see the Wii as the most significant thing that's happened, at least on the console side, in quite a while. He's also apparently a huge fan of the DS, and Advance Wars: Dual Strike in particular. On that note, there's also a DS version of Spore in the works, but that was announced quite some time ago.

The DS version admittly won't be exactly like the PC version. It will focus manly on the "creature" segment and won't have the "space" segment of the (PC) game.
That AW: DS is his favourite game? Never heard of that before. Well next January it won't be.
A Wii version Spore could really take advantage of a lot of the Wii's features without having to change much from the PC version in the process.
Graphics Wii - Graphics and processing that are not the best but still pretty good. Spore - Small as possible creature data and graphics sizes to save space.
Online play and downloads Wii - Wi-Fi connection multiplayer not perfect but there is WiiConnect 24 downloads Spore. - Does not have online multiplayer but just a seemless download of user generated content that is automatically inserted into your game.
Control scheme Wii - Easy to pick up control system that can funtion like a PC mouse by pointing and clicking. Spore - Simple and easy to pick up control scheme because of PC mouse (point and click) and tailored so anyone who has played The Sims can use it.

I'm always a bit skeptical of games that get ported from PC to console. I find that they usually aren't as good as the original, especially with simulations. Look at The Sims for example. I'll have to see it in action or at least hear a review or two before I even think of buying the Wii version over the PC version.

The creatures look like a bunch of cardboard cut-outs. I kinda like it Though I'll probably end up buying the PC version at some point instead

This below image is from the GDC and are buildings created using Spore's (building) creator. Now that is pretty cool! Link
