Hey, everyone.
I'm wondering if any of you know of a place (perhaps on the web) where original game manuals can be purchased. I know that you can get some original manuals directly from Nintendo, but they are only selling photocopies of the ones that I currently need. And e-Bay usually only has them available with their respective games.
If anyone can help me out, I'd really appreciate it.

Is this for a collection?
Personally I need the serial code on the manual to match the serial code on he box and cartridge, but I pretty much a nutcase, so don't worry about that...
I've seen a few manuals on ebay, sold on their own, but you could get them with games and sell the games for a slight markup and you may only lose a few dollars in the end...
Other than that I have no ideas for you...

Well, it's sort of for a very liberal collection. Like you, I collect Mario games. But my collection is only made up of games and manuals, not boxes. And I definitely don't try to match serial numbers (though I admit I'll be jealous of your collection when you're done).
Thanks for the advice on how to get what I want from e-Bay. I'll see what I can do there.

Well heck, if you're going to buy the game and manual off e-bay, keep the game that goes with the manual and sell your old game.

But by the way, Ebay has high prices.

On a somewhat related issue, does anyone know where complete scans of game manuals can be found? Will Nintendo Database ever have complete game manual scans?

www.vimm.net (Vimm's Lair) has a selection of NES and SNES manuals. It's a bit limited in how many you can download at a time, but you can view as many as you like while you wait. The collection there is growing as well, and has been a convenient stop for me to check out the odd fact, character name or interesting tidbit. Other than that, I don't... but I'm sure there will be some out there.

So not in the near future I guess...

I think there's a touchy legal side to having manuals scanned. You're not even supposed to make TXT-based manuals available, but I decided to include them anyway. By the way... when updates start up again, if anyone fancies writing up manuals for more recent consoles into a TXT format then I'll be happy to take them

Now scans of manuals are illegal!??

Well... yeah... just like scanning the contents of books with copyrights is illegal. However, Nintendo don't seem to be fussed about the TXT based manuals available for their respective games that much... they've got bigger fish to fry.

That's nothing. Davogones, the webmaster of one of my affiliates (The Legends of Zelda), was ordered by Nintendo's lawyers to take down his old website - a huge collection of official artwork from Nintendo games.
Nintendo can be surprisingly unfair at times.
