Does anyone know or wish to speculate on why so many Mario villains are purple?
For example in PM:TTYD, the Shadow Sirens, Sir Grodus, Kammy Koopa, Lord Crump and the Shadow Queen are either purple or are dressed in purple attire.
Also both the Wario 'brothers' dress in purple as well.

Doesn't Kammy wear pink? And I can't remember Grodus or Lord Crump wearing purple either, but I'm less sure of it.
I guess the shadow sirens are purple because its a "girly" colour whilst still looking quite dark. The Shadow Queen is supposed to, if I'm not mistaken, look like the Shadow Sirens which is why she's purple as well.
And I guess the Wario bros. would have either been Yellow and Purple or Blue and Orange. So they went with Yellow and Purple since it stood out more from the Red and Green.
...But, to answer your question, yes. Thats why the GBC, the GBA and the GCN all launched in purple. Nintendo are evil. (thats what I thought the thread would be about, actually).

My guess is that the color purple was a favorite of the PM:TTYD character designer, and he thought it looked good on bad guys and gals. EDIT: Gah! Bad, not bag!  |

But Nintendo says that none of its villains are TRULY evil... just greedy or stupid, etc. So, that would make purple the colour of greediness and stupidity. Don't tell the pope  |
