Lastly, this appears to be the fourth or fifth time that something from the FMV part of the trailer turned out to be an actual gameplay feature, and it seems that this is yet another Final Smash that doesn't particularly come from any Metroid game. The only time I remember Samus's armor getting blown off was during the death animation in Super Metroid. Not sure if this was meant to be a throwback to that, but I think I was right about other characters having weapons that are reusable by the other players, given the ability to throw around the parts of the suit. The Zero Laser may be a reference to both Super Metroid and Metroid Prime where Samus could fire in "Hyper Mode." If I'm not mistaken, both games let her become invincible while firing, but while Metroid Prime's was a legit straight, bright white laser, Super's was rainbow colored (can anybody correct me on this?). The name, obviously, refers to the fact that she loses her armor and becomes Zero-Suit Samus. Likewise, Metroid Prime 3 has that whole "Corruption" powerup where you can fire crazy powerful lasers at the expense of health, and Samus has always always grabbed weird beam powerups in every game (Wide Beam, Spazer, Plasma Beam, etc.), so this isn't really that farfetched. She could fire sonic booms in Metroid Prime 2 for Chrissake Anyways, next part of the trailer to come true? NOT META KNIGHT!! i hate you so much sakurai...

HA! Who Called This one! Watch this movie again When Samus first appears she lets out this gigantic beam then her suit falls off. ZSS is an effect of Final Smash it looks like. She could also be the effect of taking to much damage at one time. (like the dieing sequence in most if not all metroid games) This makes me wonder if Wario's bike can fail like it does in the movie. I cast Tingle in my happy moment. Also it appears that Samus's page will be oganized as Samus ZSamus Samus-Smash ZSamus-Smash since the link takes you to anchor #3 on the page. Anchor #2 of the character pages are their specials. Anchor #3 are the Final Smashes.

The trailer scores again! I'm kind of digging the massive amount of new items that you can use from other character's moves. Throwing Samus's armor around is going to be a surreal yet cool moment. What's next, Mario's hat?

There HAS to be a way to start the battle as Zero Suit Samus. There's no logical reason to keeping a completely original fighter unusable unless you've used an item. What happens in tournaments, where there are no items? "A" at Match Start for Zero Suit Samus, a la Sheik? While I agree that there should be a secret way to start out as Zamus, there's one solution that I'm seeing nobody mention. Legalize items, or at least Smash Balls/Final Smashes. Seriously, Sakurai is obviously balancing the game out, and that includes the Final Smashes. Who gets the Smash Ball first depends just as much on skill as the rest of the game, with some exceptions of course, but those exceptions are a rarity. I think that Zero Suit Samus definitely will be able to be chosen at the start in some form, but I also wouldn't mind in the slightest if the competitive players were forced to make some sacrifices in order to get access to their precious Sheik-like player.

The reason they do is becuase you can't turn capsle off. But of of the samll(ansd I mean small) chances a capsle will appwer in range while your doing an attack and it's explosive. It's "fair" The other reaons is a Smash ball can apper closer to one person then another, Compettative play is full of BS.

You know Smashchu, you have have a lot of nerve hating on the Melee tournament scene at every possible interval. They like to play a different way than we do. That's no reason to tell them off about it. Contrary to popular belief, not all tournament players think that their way is the only way. Yes, there are some who do, but you're making yourself look no better than them.

Have you guys noticed that they're not exactly using the most current Samus model? The most obvious detail is the shape of her visor, and the lines immediately above it. In Prime 2, Hunters and 3, that whole region has a very different, more aggressive design. Her suit is also usually portrayed a bit slimmer all around; closer to the skin.
One may argue that this is "Zero Mission" Samus, based on the last Japanese- made game, but that doesn't seem fair. She wore that same blue bodysuit in Prime 2. I was hoping for the more menacing helmet design in Brawl.

"Prime" can almost be considered a spinoff Metroid series. It's safe to say Nintendo will always love their own Samus more than Retro's Samus.
