I don't think the player transforms into an Assist Trophy. After all, we see Kirby standing right behind Knuckle Joe and I would assume he was the one who summoned him.

Besides:

You’re probably thinking that a Nintendog is a pretty poor assistant, since it blocks your view, too.

He wouldn't be a poor assistant if he replaced you, taking you out of the fray (and harm's way).

My only complaint about Knuckle Joe's appearance is that his headband makes it look like he's wearing panties on his head. XD Otherwise I don't care much. I think he looks neat.

I'm pretty psyched about this update! Something about generic baddies popping out of the assist trophy cases makes me giddy.

1, I think he has a mouth in the in-game screenshot. If it's really a chin, then Wii's lightning is pretty bad. I always thought some Wii games' lightning are unrealistic, anyway. GC made things realistic and Wii did the reverse? ....Nah, it's just Nintendo former ead's doing. Games like MP8 hae no such prob.

2, Friendly fire? Is Joe attacking kirby? I don't think so. It looks like his projectile, not Kirby.
