You know that Zero Suit Samus has a Plasma Whip, right? But you may not know that she can use it for recovery.Samus is falling! This looks bad!She uses her up special move! She just manages to latch on!Whew, that was a close one.She can retract it to bring her to the ledge.Moves like that can be pretty thrilling. And it’s not exclusive to Zero Suit Samus... Other characters can do it, too!

Kind of boring when I thought it was just about some characters using their grab attack to reach the edge, this update got much more interesting when I realized that was Zamus's Up-B attack! An Up-B made primarily for attaching to objects instead of ascension... very peculiar.

Its a neat way for ZS Samus to get back to the edge and I agree with thores statement about attaching to objects instead of gaining flight distance.
If you think about it, Ivysaur may use a vine whip "Up special" attack like this to recover from falling.

LAAAAAAAME! This should've been part of a Zero Suit Samus special move update if it's her up and B attack. Eh, I guess with the awesome updates we got on Monday and Tuesday, I shouldn't really be surprised if the rest of the week isn't exactly gold.

Sweet. I wonder if you can also latch on to other characters this way. Say, you're about to jump back to the stage but another player is about to prevent that by doing a footstool jump on you... quickly do a tether recovery and grab your opponent so you can take him down with you.

Also: One day left till we see if there's any truth to that GameFAQs rumor. Although really, it should be counted as wrong already. The poster said we'd see TWO of his points proven correctly by the end of the week; even if we get Peach as Friday's update it still only proves one point at the very most. Though the past three days of tame updates has to be building up towards SOMETHING, so we'll see.

I'll bet one of the other characters with Tether Recover is Link. His hook shot or the more recent claw shot would be perfect for it.

Well... A grapple move by itself is indeed a very limited recovery, it has no offensive/defensive purposes, and you possibly can't use it after an airdodge. Zero Samus is possibly a very good character, like Falcon, and they had to balance her with this recovery move.
Will this move work on ground too? I imagine some sort of long grab move.

Well I'm sure Link will retain the hookshot grab, as will Samus with the grapple beam. The update doesn't specify the "tether" has to be a special move, so it can be things like grabs. I'm almost certain now that Ivysaur does something like this for an Up B. Maybe his grab and his Up B... Other characters I immediately thought of: Yoshi (why the hell didn't his tongue do this in Melee?), Ice Climbers (c'mon. The Belay move was useless. It was the first thing I thought of with this update, too. Making that move disgustingly more useful) The update did kinda nod towards 'saur and Climbers, imo. Never saying it directly, but I definitely got that chill. And does Samus's Up B grab people? That'd be cool if she could angle it and latch on to folks pulling them closer. It's kinda silly to use it zap people from afar, but then let it magically stick to things too

Zorro for Brawl!
Didn't Bomberman use to have a whip? Or was it just one game?

Zorro for Brawl! Didn't Bomberman use to have a whip? Or was it just one game? Bomberman GB 2. It was only because the game's storyline was a spoof of Indiana Jones.

I'm doubting the rumor is correct at this point. Just something makes me think there won't be a character on Friday. The only thing is that he thought this week was Lucas not Pokemon Trainer. So, I guess it's possible. Of course, it seems we'll get something close to that. it wasn't farfetch'd at all.
As for the Tether recovery, it was in Melee with Samus and Link's grab. Not much. Just that ZSS's up B can do it. Pretty tame. Good think this wasn't a Friday update.

Somebody way back, on another forum, made a good point. This tether recovery works wonderfully well with an Animal Crossing character's fishing rod
