Now that we've actually studied how the series (and Sakurai's mind on it, to an extent) works, it's high time we come up with some new concepts for the game.
Helpers
Much like in Kirby Super Star, these fellows will fight by your side all the time and lend you a hand.
They are different from Assist Trophies in that they are permanent partners who follow you around and fight right by your side at all costs.
In a 1P game of Classic Smash, one of them can be chosen after you choose your character and will help you out for the rest of the game. They can also be able to be controlled at will at any time by a Wii Remote-only player (this would be the Helper's form of input) for co-op play.
1 = Attack 2 = Jump Control Pad = Move A = Defend
Different moves can be pulled off with the attack button in conjunction with the direction pad movements. A few examples of helpers include the likes of Goombas (headbonk), Koopas (shell tricks), Waddle Dee (Parasol), and Waddle Doo (Beam).
A multiplayer form can also be a Helper Match, where each player is assigned a chosen helper to fight alongside them. Helpers can't be controlled here.

It's an interseting idea, but I would think the chances of something like that being in the game would be pretty low. At least it would not be impossible to in the game.
