It's nice to see the IC come return for SSBB. I like the detail the two have on them such as the furryness/fluffyness on their parka's and the detail on their gloves and mallets/hammers. EDITWell, obviously Ice Climber was the last programmed in Melee... I mean they had a Beta Balloon Fighter in place of the Eskimos, before dumping it for Ice Climber! I have never heard of that before. Where did you get that info from? |

Where the bloody hell do you people get your information!? There is NO evidence that Balloon Fighter was ever seriously considered for the game beyond early planning stages. The ONLY thing we have to go on is what Sakurai says in his blog, and I can guarantee it DOES NOT say what you just said!! RAAARGH! If I hear this stupid falsehood one more time I may explode with rage!! On the plus side. Ice Climbers! Yay! Look how cute and fluffy they look  |

Whatever it may be, Popo would have to be able to do it alone, right?
Can they both do it?
What if Nana grabs the smash ball?
Does it become stronger or better when they are together like most of their special attacks?
Something involving the condor perhaps?
Or maybe they become EGGPLANT WIZARDS?!
Seriously, I have no idea. I'm just thrilled that they're in.

So, the "chart" is based on the architecture of the official website, which reveals based upon the enumeration in the filenames of game icon images that there will be at least 18 games represented, but possibly more? Do I have that right?
And that wouldn't preclude the possibility that there will be other characters kept officially secret until the game comes out, yes?Eh?
I seem to recall Mewtwo and Ganondorf staying totally under wraps until the day Melee went on store shelves.

The screenshot of Yoshi busting out of the egg was probably his intro too. At first I figured it was just him coming out of his sheild... but I don't think he'd but his arms in the air like that in that animation.
There's also a screenshot of Peach holding her parasol over her shoulder, just standing. I thought this might be a new move or something, but after seeing her "entrance" in the subspace emisary video... it's possible it's a screenshot from her intro as well...
And now with this Ice Climber screenshot of them with their hammers on the ground and cheering.... I think it's safe to say....
INTROS ARE BACK.
Which means this is such a great update.
-It confirmed that the Ice Climbers are playable (duh..) and that they look great.
-It showed us that the icon between 12 and 14 can't be anything besides Mr. Game and Watch's logo. Which... pretty much confirms him as well....
-It SMASHES any ancient rumors that might still be lingering around...
-It adds weight to the theory that N64 style intros are back.
-(And I can feel good about them being back, since I've supported them since day 1, even when alot of people were saying they didn't have a chance of coming back.)
I liked this update! Ice Climbers were my main in Melee.

Yay for the Ice Climbers! They are back! Those guys who believed that they weren't going to come back might eat their hearts out!
I totally love thier new look. Makes them look more adorable. Without doubt this is the best update of this semi-lame week.

I don't know if it confirms intros are back. I really, really hope it does! I've been hoping for that since... well... since 2001 when they weren't in Melee  It has been a pretty dire week though. And while it's great to see them returning - it's not exactly an announcement as such. Hope we have a better week next week! Takamaru for Brawl!! |

Serioulsy, Sakurai did say he had Balloon Fighter before Ice Climbers. They even had the Balloon Trip theme in Melee!
I believe Balloon Fighter will be #13.

He said he CONSIDERED Balloon Fighter. He never said Balloon Fighter was in. And even if he was, his icon would still be new, since he wasn't in the final version of Melee. Following the pattern, the Game & Watch icon is the only one that can go there. But it might not mean Mr. Game & Watch is in. Maybe only Flat Zone is returning. |
