We need some japanese speaker in these boards, and Gooey = Kirby clone, so if he appears in Brawl that's the function I expect him to take.

I can't speak Japanese, but I'm getting quite good at speaking bad Japanese to English translations ;D
"As for the top characters Koopa, Dedede, Mewtwo, etc... To tell the truth, these characters were scheduled to appear during the development of Smash Bros., but were cut due to certain circumstances."

We need Dedede this time. No questions asked. I don't think 3 Kirby characters is asking too much. Kirby is the Hero, Dedede is the villain, and Meta Knight is somewhere inbetween.
And, like many other Brawl worthy villains... we know what his theme song would be.

Man, if we get the Mt. Dedede music remixed, I'll be a very happy camper!

Well, Dedede is definately the Bowser of the Kirby series... Nightmare is to Dedede what Chaos was to Dr. Eggman. He only appeared in one game and it's remake, and only to upstage the final boss.
Dark Matter is much more of a main Kirby villain.

Nightmare wasn't the boss in Kirby 64??
I am pretty sure of it...

Dark Matter was in more games, but I guess it was only Kirby 64 and Dream Land 3. Chaos was in one and a remake. i beleive he was cameod in other games.

I think Kirby being a series whose primary demographic in the US is younger children has lent itself well to its characters; those that are Kirby's standard enemies aren't truly villainous, and Kirby himself has a lot of flaws for a hero. Dedede and Meta Knight have both on multiple occasions attempted to save Dreamland, despite previous attempts to conquer it, even going so far as to team up with Kirby; Kirby, meanwhile, lives a simple life of laziness and gluttony, and jumps to conclusions before gathering all the facts. Oftentimes he'll be responsible for unleashing the true final boss of the game, which is a true evil Dedede or Meta Knight had been trying to keep under control. Gray areas are fantastic in characters if applied correctly.
This makes me think, though, that maybe Dark Matter could be a Kirby boss alongside Kracko. Hmm.

Kirby, Dedede and Meta Knight are some of my favourite characters in gaming for the reasons you just said. ;D Kirby and Dedede were both portrayed fantastically in Kirby 64 and Squeak Squad/Mouse Attack, even though neither of them do any talking.
