Attack of the rumors

-NyaseNya on the Smash Boards said Sonic would be revealed at the Nintendo Conference
- BlueWave on the Smash Boards then said Sonic would indeed be revealed at the conference, as well as on the DOJO that day. He also said Brawl would be playable at E for All. A few days later, both of those came true.

Later, BlueWave then said all of this stuff:

- He then said the starting roster is this: Mario, Bowser, Peach, Wario, Donkey Kong, Diddy Kong, Link, Zelda/Sheik, Kirby, Meta Knight, Pikachu, Pokemon Trainer, Samus, Fox, Pit, Yoshi, Ike, Ice Climbers, Lucas, Captain Falcon, and Animal Crosser.
- Said Captain Olimar is an unlockable
- Said the blurred out part of the Snapshots update is for a possible option to be able to vote on snapshots through the new voting channel Nintendo announced at their conference (I think they're referring to the demo channel, where you can also vote on demos, or maybe referring to the everybody votes channel)
- Jigglypuff and Marth return for Brawl as unlockables
- King Dedede is an unlockable in Brawl
- Mega Man is the third and final third party character in Brawl and will be unlockable. It is very possible that Mega Man will be revealed at the beginning of December, but it's possible he will be revealed earlier.
- Ridley is in the game, but in what form (Character, Boss, AT), he doesn't know.
- Lucario is in the game, but like Ridley, he doesn't know in what form he will be in Brawl.
- Break the Targets returns
- They are looking into a feature where you could trade trophies online, though they're not sure whether it will actually happen or not.
- The Paper Mario series will be represented in the from of an Assist Trophy, though which character from the series it will be is unknown.

For clarification, BlueWave did NOT predict that the Mario Circuit stage would be updated recently, that was someone on these forums.

He claims he has a source within Nintendo, but can't talk specifics. I don't know what to believe. He was right about a few things, and the rest seems likely.

Why would Zelda become Sheik? It's the Twilight Princess design. I don't remember Sheik ever having brown hair.

Also, five unlockables? Surprising he didn't name any characters people weren't expecting.

And then you will have the idiots who believe him (I admit, I believed the last guy too.).

Wow, he knows about Megaman but not if Ridley or Lucario will be characters? I applaud you.

Won't we all look stupid though when this guy is right.

I guess there are hundreds of people who said Sonic would be announced at that event because a lot of people were expecting him. And this is some real standard speculation of wich a lot could be true. And why would he know all this?

Best stance to take on these things, because you win either way and you don't get let down if they turn out false. ;D

I'm not expecting Sheik to be in at this point. I mean, surely we'd have heard something by now?

But this guy isn't predicting anything that I'd hate to be true, unlike most of the others. I'm fairly indifferent to these rumours at the moment. They'd be nice if true, but we'll see.

These are pretty vague for one thing. The biggest risk he takes is the AC and Olimar being playable. I don't think these two have inside sources but just like The "Big Professional" taking educated guesses.

1) Ok... Dedede is an unlockable fighter. Even I would predict THAT! Dedede is the most popular character on the Brawl poll, and on the Melee poll besides those that are already fighters.
2) Ridley & Lucario are in the game in some form... Again, I would predict this. Ridley's the most popular villian who isn't King Dedede, and Lucario is at least popular in the US.
3) Jigglypuff, Marth, and Captain Falcon return. Again, I would predict this. Where's something that is debatable like Ness or Game & Watch?
4) Animal Crossing has it's own icon, so it WILL likely to have a fighter. Again, I would predict this.
5) In fact, save Shiek and Mega Man, his predictions are too predictable, and even I could tell you most of this stuff. I certainly don't have an inside source at Nintendo, so neither does this guy. He's just making safe predictions.

About the Sheik thing, didn't some guy say in some interview he sent designs of Link, Sheik and Ganondorf to something blablabla? It's pretty vague in my head, I don't know if this has already been marked as false either.

Also the no Ness/G&W thing reminds me of that 34 characters prediction guy. The reason people don't believe him no more was because he said Lucas would be revealed and it turned out to be Diddy, right? Not to defend generic gamefaqs guy but for some reason I think he knew about a newcomer and just said Lucas as a guess but guessed wrong


Anyway, these 'insiders' with their character rumours lacking 'some samurai like guy' and 'some kirby-like star' have me kinda worried...

He hasn't said anything the rest of us haven't wished for at some point - the only thing he's said that we haven't is that these are "facts" and not a "wishlist".

Yet another person abusing the faith in them following a lucky guess. Hell... DiU had a freaky week of correct guesses, and we've all called these things at some point. But they were lucky guesses.

His wishlist is almost TOO predictable as well. No solid, almost-believable figures like in that one we all put our faith in a couple months back... no "out there" predictions... just ones that people say all the time and hope to be true. And if there's one thing Sakurai has proven to us, it's never to expect predictable events!

NyaseNya was the first to say, specifically... that Sonic would be revealed on Wednesday. This other guy... looks like he just agreed and decided to tag along.

Of course, I decided not to buy into the Sonic rumor, but it turned out to be true. Either way, like you all said, those are all very predictable predictions. (Did I say that right?)

We'll see when it turns out that Zelda can't turn into Sheik, Bomberman gets revealed and King Dedede is a starter.

NyaseNya did indeed predict that, and I can honestly say I trust him more than BlueWave, but you have to note that what NyaseNya DIDN'T say is that Sonic was going to be revealed at the conference beforehand, Brawl will be playable at E for All, and that there was going to be a trailer with Sonic in it and another trailer showing Brawl footage in the same Sonic update on the Dojo. BlueWave, however, did say that, and it all came true, so I really don't think everyone should be giving him their usual crap with "prophets," because he has a high chance of being legit.

Don't really trust him completely, though. I recognize the fact that he could be guessing this all, but you also have to look at the stuff he said that wouldn't really be able to be guessed easily that happened.

I think this is the same deal as the prophet. I would bet there are some people out there that do, in fact, have contacts of some kind. But these people may not be them. I'd like to see an actual "prophet" come out but chances of that aren't looking good anymore. I'll follow this and see what happens.
