A target-breaking mode has appeared in every game in the Smash series. It’s a mode that challenges you to break ten targets within a given time limit—basically, a game for those who salivate at the thought of speed runs.Break the targets! It’s outdoors now, giving it a refreshing visual appearance. This time, there are five different maps of varying difficulty—challenges you can take on with your favorite character. Each of the five maps is distinctive. Some levels have items as well, so you may be able to use them to cut your time even more.
Use all of your character’s skills to beat your own personal records! This is the pause screen. If you fail, you can pause the game and try again. You can also confirm the overall layout by pausing.
There is another announcement I’d like make simultaneously...
This time, you can view replays. What this means is, the game records what you did in brawls or in Target Smash and lets you review it.You can record about three minutes worth of replay data. And it’s even possible to send replays of your most amazing times to Wii Friends! If you compete against each other, things will surely heat up.Fire it off!It feels great to use all of your knowledge and techniques to shave off a hundredth of a second. But you don’t have to do that to enjoy these features, so I hope you’ll give it a try regardless.

Break the targets is more awesome....
AAAAANNNNDDDD... you can save replays!!
Don't anybody dare call it a "lame update" just because it's not a character.

I love how does he dare to give an announcement as important as replays in the middle of something most people would suppose would come back ;D

Pfft I love the way this update is presented. The new replay feature got far more attention than the subject of the update! He would have been better off splitting it into two separate updates.
Anyways, the replay feature is awesome! Three minutes is a bit of a bummer, but I guess it's a restriction that has to be done for file size issues. Break the Targets is a bit of a dissapointment though. Only five maps total this time instead of a unique one for each character? Oh well, it's not like I cared for the feature much in Melee anyways.

Whoa! Whoa! Whoa! Hold the phone! Hold the phone!
A subtle hidden message?
One of the friends on that list is "Nookway". Obviously it contains the name "nook", refering to "Tom Nook" but look what else it contains....
Nookway - OK = Noway
Nook = No way
Nintendo's way of confirming people's suspisions about him being in the background? Or am I imagining things?

This world reminded me of Tin Star's world, but that doesn't mean it will increase his chance at entering. Wild Gunman also had a similar world, and I'm not sure about the arcade version of Sheriff.

Nookway is just the name of one of Tom Nook's many shops in Animal Crossing, Ninja. I doubt it means anything at all.

Great to know that "break the targets" is still in and not cut out like the "board the platforms" was for SSBM. The outdoors setting really makes the layouts look a lot better and less bland than their original counterparts. It really makes it look like it is from the Subspace Emssiary mode too (evan though it's not). Also did anyone notice that Wario is using the Wario Waft (down B) special move in this image?

Haha, fart jokes! The replay feature is excellent, but I agree it's a bit of a shame that we have five generic Break The Targets stages rather than a unique one for each character now. I expect the decision was made to improve replayability - after all, in Melee, I simply got the scores I needed to get trophies and then never played them again! So good in a way. Though I am afraid I do not salivate at the thought of speed-runs

Great to see this returning (not that it wouldn't anyway), although I'm not enthusiastic about the fact that there aren't character-specific BTT stages like in both SSB and SSBM. But the replay feature sounds cool.

I wonder if it's five maps period, or five maps per character.

I'd bet heavily on the former, since 5 maps per character seems likely that it'll eat up too much space on the disc. Which means less room for more assists/characters/pokemon/special modes & features.

I think you're right, but I do give 5 maps per character a chance. Sakurai is definitely expanding one-player mode, and the graphics look borrowed from Subspace Emissary, so they might not take up as much space as you'd think.
