Isn't this pretty much like the prediction thread? Oh well, veteran wise my guess would be either Captain Falcon, or Sheik as part of Zelda's moveset update.
Newcomer wise? Muddy Mole, duh.

I really starting top think the next veteran won't be C. Falcon, but something like Sheik or Falco (who becomes a starter).

As we get closer to launch, I think we're going to see a few more boss characters revealed - and I wouldn't be surprised if the first of these was Ridley. I doubt he will be playable.
I truly and honestly believe Captain Falcon is unlockable again, as is Ness. Which basically means, as far as likely to be available from the start characters goes, I have NO IDEA!
That's right. I actually don't want to guess. I think any remaining old characters have been cut or locked. Most of the remaining most-wanted characters are unlikely (AC Character, Olimar) or just plain horrible (Krystal, Krystal and Krystal).
But then that means any reveals between now and launch will be lovely surprises ;D

If neither Meta Knight nor King Dedede are unlockables, I wouldn't give Kirby only 2 companions and Pikachu only the Trainer (if Jigglypuff comes back, the unlockable joke may repeat, though).
Mewtwo might stay unlockable... For Pokémon newcomers, the only ones left that make the most sense IMO are Lucario and Plusle & Minun.

As for the newcomers, I'll have to go with Krystal (unfortunately).

As much as I detest her...instincts point to Krystal.
But otherwise, I don't think I can guess anything else that's going to happen from here on out. Captain Falcon shoulda been up months ago and we haven't seen him yet. If we hadn't seen Lucas, I'd say the same thing about Ness.
I mean--unlockable franchises get shafted in SSB games. In the first one, there were no levels for Earthbound or F-Zero and only one song for each--the victory jingles. There weren't any items for either franchise as well. In SSBM, Game & Watch got one level, two songs (Flat Zone and victory jingle), no items. Fire Emblem got no levels, two songs (FE medley and victory jingle) and also no items. There's nothing saying it'll stop for this generation, and I want as much F-Zero content as there is Star Fox content, at least. (Yes, Nintendo. This means you should think of an F-Zero item. A patch of Pit Stop Area would be brilliant--throw it at some terrain and it becomes a healing zone. Also consider other terrain-changing things, like Ice Patch and Sand Pit. If this doesn't work out...at least make a lot of F-Zero assist trophies. The universe has over 40 characters to draw from.)
