On a similar note, a Mario Galaxy spherical level you can run all the way around.

On a similar note, a Mario Galaxy spherical level you can run all the way around. That would be part of the reason of the delay: adding Mario Galaxy-related material.

ZeldaHyrule TourNot based on any particular Zelda game (it's ever-changing with every game), but it randomly takes the fight to the series's typical locales such as Death Mountain, Lost Woods, Lake Hylia, and Gerudo Desert. And the warping, swirling things would warp you from spot to spot!

Yoshi ;D Kinda seconded! But I think this sort of stage would be better to represent Mario Galaxy...I have a feeling if we see another Yoshi stage, it'll be based on Yoshi's Story.I don't think that characters necessarily "own" stages in Smash like in other typical fighter games, seeing that they're basically their own ball game. Their symbols/series do, but that's it really...PictoChat is pratically all the evidence you'd need on that, because what kind of DS-related playable character will there be? A DS Lite? This is pretty much the inversed version of the same debate we've been having ever since Smashville cropped up, but the response to it is the same as always: Just because a franchise has a stage does not mean it needs to have a player character for it.
I believe that this time there will be at least one stage per character. There's a lot more disc space this time around, not to mention there's been much more time to develop the game--I'm sure the reason Ganondorf got stuck on Brinstar Depths was because he was added in at the last minute. (I have no idea why Mewtwo got relegated to Final Destination, though...) Anyway, my picks would be thus, with confirmed characters and stages in Italics:
Mario: Mario Circuit Since this is Mario's stage in all Mario Kart games, putting Peach or Luigi here would be sort of a faux-pas, you know?
Peach: Isle Delphino *shrugs* I dunno, it makes sense I guess. Peach had an important enough role in SMS to make this fit together.
Bowser: Bowser's Castle This has been a necessity since Melee. A Bowser Castle stage with traditional Bowser Castle hazards: Thwomps, lava pits, fireballs, maybe even some Koopatrols. It would also play this sexy Bowser medley I made up a while back.
Luigi: Luigi's Mansion This has also been a necessity. Since the Mansion has become an integrated part of the Mario franchise, particularly in the spinoffs, it'd be surprising NOT to have the level.
Link: Bridge of Eldin Just...because. I mean, why not?
Zelda: Dark World Perhaps an LttP-inspired stage would work best, since the game needs love. I figure someplace notable in the Dark World, but since I kind of blank out on the game whenever I need to think about it, I dunno where in particular.
Ganondorf Ganondorf's Castle I don't care what you have to say...ole G-Dorf had a creepy temple in Ocarina of Time. The room at the top of the castle where you faced him would be perfect; walls and a ceiling, with only two pits around the sides. Maybe the organ could show up as something to walk on. *shrug*
Young Link: Great Ocean Fought on Tetra's pirate ship, with her crew standing in the background and sometimes getting involved with the fight using bombs and swords. As the ship sails, the weather and winds change, altering how the battle plays out; familiar islands also pass by in the background.
Fox: Lylat Cruise Derf derf.
Falco: Solar I'm going to quote my old idea on this one, since I don't feel like retelling it.
You know what would be a kickass Star Fox level? Solar. Puts you on the new Great Fox hovering over the magma oceans of the small red star, and you take slowly-increasing, gradual damage as the ship travels, as it did in Star Fox 64. Flaming rock erupts from the planet's surface and rains down on the Great Fox, causing further damage to anyone misfortunate enough to be struck. The battlefield would also rotate on occasion, forcing players to seek refuge on the ship's fuselages, and occasionally go into an incline (wherein the amount of damage received from the level decreases), only to go into a decline shortly after (increasing the damage from the level). And maybe on occasion, the Bioweapon from Star Fox 64 would pop up from the lava...if for no other reason than to be there, that thing was badass.
Krystal: Sauria Just because people thinks this atrocity of a planet needs to be represented. X( Only fitting, given who I think should go with it.
Samus: Norfair: Again, derf derf.
Tallon IV: Phendrana Drifts We need another good snow-based level to follow up Shadow Moses Island, and to celebrate the Ice Climbers' likely graduation from the vertical-scrolling style of level. Phendrana Drifts has always been the perfect solution, IMO--there's no shortage of icy outcroppings and hazards, like falling icicles and Sheegoths. Besides, it'd be a Metroid level that doesn't have rising acid or lava...we need more of those. Brinstar Depths is not enough. Metroid Prime needs representation somehow; it'd be sad if Sakurai outright ignored the trilogy.
Kirby: Bubbly Clouds I'm tired of Green Greens stages and I don't want to revisit the Fountain of Dreams, so I'm rolling with a place that'd probably net us a Kracko cameo.
Meta Knight: Battleship Halberd Yeah. BORK BORK BORK.
King Dedede: Wrestling Ring Oh come on, it's soooo necessary ;D Plus, his battle theme is awesomelicious!
Donkey Kong: Rumble Falls Nothing to add here...
Diddy Kong: Gangplank Galleon Don't know the area, but almost everyone else here seems to agree that the stage is worth being Brawlified. I'll roll with that.
Captain Falcon: Meteor Storm Like I explained in another topic, Meteor Storm suffers from, well, just that: a meteor storm. I imagine raining, superheated rocks plummeting down from the sky would make an incredibly hectic hazard. Plus you'd still have to deal with the F-Zero racers zooming along the track. Actually, I imagine this one would run similar to Big Blue from Melee, except without the Falcon Flyer.
Thunder Like the Great Ocean level, only constantly instead of occasionally, the weather is this stage's big gimmick. Rain makes the terrain slick, harsh wind makes movement difficult, and if you're not careful, lighting could strike you and deliver heaps of damage. This one I think is more like Mute City, where the racers actually damage you. Also, it uses the music for "Silence" from F-Zero X as its theme, since the music for Thunder is actually kinda weak.
Wario: WarioWare I did not see this coming.
Wario's Castle Well, okay, he's had a few different castles...I imagine the trademarks here would be some of Captain Syrup's minions roving the area. Maybe the area would be flooded, like in the branching chapter in Wario Land II?
Sonic: Green Hill Zone I can't think of a more symbolic level than this one--especially since Sakurai seems to want to strike a balance between Sonic's fledgling days and the contemporary. This is it, this is the beginning--the very definition of "roots" to the Hedgehog. EVERYONE who has ever played the first Sonic the Hedgehog game has been guaranteed to play through Green Hill Zone; this will be especially memorable to those who, um, sucked at the game...like me. Heh heh! But since we're shooting for balance, here...
Egg Carrier COME ON!! How can you say no to such an awesome disco tune like the Egg Carrier's? ;D Stranded in the ocean or flying in the sky, one of the hazards here will be the appearance of E-101 Mk. II and ZERO--maybe as well as Chaos and the other E-100 series robots that we've seen, including E-102 Gamma and E-123 Omega. This, too, is a symbolic area--it belongs to Eggman, first, and it comes from the first true 3D Sonic game, which set off the current "incarnation" of the Hedgehog.
Pikachu: Fortree City I still maintain that this area from Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald would make a great battlefield, largely because it's set in a bunch of tree-houses with interlinking log-bridges. The bridges can be broken when attacked enough, creating additional pits; you can stand on top of the trees, and Kecleon will occasionally appear from the background to damage anyone close by.
Pokémon Trainer: Pokémon Stadium 2 I agree with Teev on this one--the Stadium level definitely fits the Trainer better.
Jigglypuff: Safari Zone The Safari Zone has been a staple of the core Pokémon games since the beginning. This one in particular does not represent any one Safari Zone; instead, it's supposed to just give you the feel of being inside one. Rare Pokémon such as Dratini, Croagunk, Carnivine, Kangaskhan and Tauros pop out from the tall grass or water to observe or interact with the battle.
Mewtwo: Cerulean Cave Well...since you find Mewtwo in there...and the terrain is perfect, plus there are powerful Pokémon in that area...
Yoshi: Yoshi's Island Nothing new here, aaaand...
Yoshi's Story YS may not be a fantastic game, but there's no denying that it's shaped who Yoshi is today. In combination with the fact that we've already had some YS music, I imagine a YS stage is also in the works. Hopefully this one is a bit more...creative than the last one was. I'd like to see something similar in creative awesomeness to the original YS stage.
Pit: Skyworld And...
Underworld Because it'll have the kickass music we got on the DOJO.
That's really all I got for the time being. Any characters and franchises I haven't touched on, it's because I'm not very familiar with them--Fire Emblem and Earthbound in particular. I also get the feeling that certain franchises will again get only one stage--I don't imagine there's a lot you can do with the Ice Climbers or Mr. Game & Watch, anyway.

Awesome post Tei.
It might be likely... and this is a long shot... but we just got the bramble blast music from Donkey Kong Country 2 confirmed.
Not sure about you, but that sounds like a perfect stage for Diddy Kong. The "bramble" style stages in DKC2 were some of the most memorable... and the music was FAN-TAS-TIC. So maybe we'll get Bramble blast as a stage?
Not only that... but do you really see the Snowman music fitting for New Pork City? I'm positive that will be used for a different Mother stage. I have no idea if the song was in Mother 3, but it was in 1 and 2.

First, I hate the idea of "Stage for each character". That's pointless. The stage has always just represented a franchise, not the characters specifically. So why was development time stuggling to make up 4 Pokemon/Mario stages, or limit a franchise with one character to one stage.
On another not, I would love a Galaxy level, but I don't see it happening. Or, a Metroid level that's not on Zebes.

First, I extremely love the idea of "Stage for each character". That's wonderful! fix'd Seriously though, what's wrong with a stage for each character? It would be so fun!

I'd rather they have stages that represent individual important games or eras in each franchise, with one unlockable stage for each. Here's my ideas for the first eight franchises: Isle Delfino: Super Mario Sunshine Refer to the update. It's all good. Peach's Castle: Super Mario 64 This should be brought back from SSB64 as it was split into Peach's Castle and Rainbow Cruise in Melee. It makes sense given the return of the bumper. Maybe make it a bit bigger, with a new background. Donut Plains: Super Mario World More or less a remake of the Yoshi's Island stage in Melee. This time it should have Super Koopas, Monty Moles, Rexes and Chargin' Chucks running about. Oh, and that big cannon pipe should be fully operable. Mushroom Kingdom: Super Mario Bros. The one from SSB64 with the working pipes and POW Blocks to be exact. Either this or a Mushroom Kingdom III stage with shoe-riding Goombas. Mario Circuit: Mario Kart We've already seen how this works. I just wonder when it'll show up on the site. Yoshi's Island: Yoshi's Island This is on the website, though ideally, I'd have had Fuzzys appear and make everything trippy during the spring weather. Yoshi's Story: Yoshi's Story If anything, they should bring it back from SSB64 and add tons of obstacles. I'd love to see a Pak E. Derm you can actually interact with. Bridge of Eldin: Twilight Princess Seen it. Well done, though I'd have preferred the Temple of Time or something. Great Sea: Wind Waker You're on Tetra's ship, sailing from one island to another. Some of which include the Forsaken Fortress and the Rito's place. Sometimes the ship will sail off the screen and the King of Red Lions will sail on, changing the playing field. Expect to see Tingle somewhere, too. Hyrule Castle: Ocarina of Time The same one as in SSB64. Twisters and all. Death Mountain: A Link to the Past You're near the top of the mountain, and there's boulders falling on you. The Gods' Tower is visible in the background. Sometimes the game will change from Light World to Dark World, in which case enemies show up, the sky darkens, and the tower is now Ganon's Tower. Rumble Falls: Donkey Kong Jungle Beat It's already there. It seems to triple as a King of Swing and DK Arcade representative. Lake Orangutanga: Donkey Kong Country 3 Sort of a replacement for Jungle Japes from Melee, except the center of the stage is now a four legged hut thing with a roof you can stand on, and take shelter under. If you fall in the water, getting hit by Nibbla means and instant KO like the Klaptraps from the last game. Gangplank Galleon: Donkey Kong Country 2 This is an old idea of mine. You can't fall of the bottom, you can only get knocked out the sides and top. There are stacks of barrels in the center, and rigging platforms up above. Sometimes it rains cannonballs. Other times the ship rocks and tilts the stage a bit. Kongo Jungle: Donkey Kong Country The one from SSB64, with running water from Melee added in. Norfair: Super Metroid We've seen it in the videos. Anyone care to wager how long it'll be before it's on the site? Brinstar: Metroid The one from SSB64. Melee's version sucked cock. Battleship Halberd: Kirby Super Star On the site. Part of me wishes that at some point, Dyna Blade will fly in and start duking it out with the Halberd in midair, just like in KSS. Fountain of Dreams: Kirby Adventure Not neccissarily brought back from Melee. It needs a major overhaul. For one, it should take place on flat ground with the fountain in the background. The ground has stars all over it, and the fountain is kinda dry. This means Nightmare comes in every now and then to wreak havoc as he did in KA. I want it this way because I'd rather have a Dark Matter or MARX boss battle in TSE. Dream Land: Kirby Dream Land From SSB64, though if you ask me I'd rather Whispy be removed and recreated as a boss in TSE. Lylat Cruise: Star Fox Command Couldn't think of a better game for it represent, as it's a generic multi-representative stage. Sauria: Star Fox Adventures I only think this should be there if the thing about Krystal is true, and as for what it would be like, I think it should actually be specifically located in the Walled City. This idea I got from a friend of mine who thought that the Skyworld stage in TSE bore a striking resemblance to that area. Sector Z: Star Fox 64 From SSB64. Exact same size and everything. Big Great Fox stages rule. Pokemon Stadium 2: Pokemon Stadium Already there. If there were a Pokemon Colosseum stage, what would it have? Hoenn Skies: Ruby/Sapphire Another old idea. You're on Rayquaza's back as he flies around in various patterns. Sometimes he flies higher, and flying Pokemon serve as extra platforms. Sometimes he flies low to the ocean, and water Pokemon serve as platforms. Eventually he flies near Kyrogre and Groudon (who are now in a Pokeball )fighting each other, which can wreak havoc on your match. Then the process loops over again. Saffron City: Red/Blue From SSB64. The Pokemon box returns, and this time it should have even more new Pokemon, which can't be found in Pokeballs, and are completely interactive.

Every time I see "From SSB64" or "from Melee" I cringe. I'm sick of those stages, I want some new ones.

In SSB64's case, I just wanted those for the sake of referencing the first game. That, and every stage in Melee was essentially a remake of the stages in SSB64 in some way. I figure if we get the original eight stages out of the way, we can make room for more original stages.

Pokemon Stadium 2: Pokemon Stadium Already there. If there were a Pokemon Colosseum stage, what would it have? Mt. Battle, Shadow Lugia carrying S.S. Libra in the background, and a Pokémon double battle held between a character from the foreground and the Mt. Battle Master from the background. Projectile moves of 17 Pokémon types along a Sound-based move would make the hazards while the Brawl characters hold a perpendicular battle. However... Pokémon Trainer is already a character that stands on the background, so I'm not sure it'd work. *pats* And IMO, a stage from Donkey Kong Country 3 needs to be one that has one or more Koin or Koindozer in it that bumps the characters away.

That is cool, but I think Sinnoh would be more logical. With Groudon and Kyogre as Pokeball Pokemon, then instead of them in the level, it could be Dialga and Palkia. And instead of flying on Rayquaza, it could be Darkrai, or Arceus. (On an unrelated matter, does anyone know when they will be released in America?)
