www.classicgaming.com/startropics/StarTropics: C-Island is a site I found very shortly after opening NinDB. I visit it quite frequently, and it's recently refurbished, opened forums and started a petition. I ask you, if you love StarTropics, to get over there and sign it. I think a new StarTropics game in 3D would be an excellent move. A big ol' adventure is exactly what Nintendo's lineup needs

I haven't played the original before, but I'm still looking for one. After all, I don't know what isthe "style" of IRD's works until even now!

I've never played the game, but I signed the petition anyway... always trying to help out some fellow Nintendo fans I'd love to play the game though.

Signed it. I'd LOVE to see a new one come out. One of these days I'm gonna look for Zoda's Revenge, as I loved the first one.

Now, is it just me, or does the Ray Gun in Smash Bros. look sorta like something out of Star Tropics? I always had this crazy theory that it was a cameo from Star Tropics, because they used Zoda in F-Zero, and they obviously weren't mentioning other item sources in SSB (Egg, Barrel, Mine, etc.), so it was kinda sorta possible for them to do it.
But could somebody check that out too so I don't sound crazy, pleeease?

I think they do so with mines. It's NoA's creepy idea to post "TOP SECRET" for it. In the Jap version, it just said it comes from GoldenEye.
.....If I recall correctly. I haven't seen the trophies since a while ago.

Yeah, the egg was supposed to be a Chansey egg, and the mine is from Goldeneye/Perfect Dark (depending on the version you're playing) and the cloaking device is from Perfect Dark.
But the ray gun isn't from any game specifically. It's highly unlikely to be from Star Tropics. And I also doubt Zoda is a reference to Star Tropics either. Only the names are the same - nothing else.

Are you so sure about the Zoda thing, though? They have Mr. EAD, James McCloud, and the Octoman guy, not to mention the wolf guy that looks like he could be from Star Fox (Leon, I think). Zoda's racer is called the Death Anchor, and Star Tropics took place in the tropics... That was always my logic Zoda's also a pretty unique name. It's not something LIKE James or Bill or Katt that can just be similar through coincidence. Plus, both Zodas have a weird tail thing coming out of their heads...

Only Mr. EAD and James McCloud are definitely cameos. I originally listed the others as possible cameos, but now I'm not so sure. Octoman is simply designed to look like an octopus. All Japanese drawings of octopii are red with snoutlike-mouths, so he's probably not an Octorok cameo at all. Turns out Leon is supposed to be a cat, not a wolf... which then makes sense with the name as well (lion/leon?). If Zoda was supposed to be a cameo it would be more obvious than just the same name; as for the head thing... Yeah... not the same thing at all

Fine, the head thing was grabbing at straws but the name and vehicle's name have to mean SOMETHING

What... Death Anchor and Star Tropics? They're not even related. You don't even use an anchor in Star Tropics...

Well I was thinking an anchor and the sea, which is where Star Tropics takes place.. the southern seas. Oh well, let's kill this silly discussion before somebody blows up
