If you want to show your opponent a little flair, you can do moves unrelated to battle—it’s called taunting. You do it with the +Control Pad, except when using the Wii Remote and Nunchuk.
This time, you do one of three different taunts, depending on the direction you press the +Control Pad!Up taunt: He twirls his sword twice and sheaths it.Side taunt: Oh. A fairy.Down taunt: Is this his mysterious pose from the Nintendo 64 version?!There are a variety of patterns for you to enjoy. He takes off his hat and spins around whimsically. She curls herself in some sort of new stretch. He gives a three-fingered "W" salute. He thrusts his sword in the ground and crosses his arms.He spins his feet and says "Too slow..."...With Wii Remote + Nunchuk control, taunts are handled with the 1 Button (up taunt), the 2 Button (down taunt) and the 1 and 2 Buttons simultaneously (side taunt).Oh, and a short message can be assigned to each taunt direction.

Ahahaha! Oh wow. I guess that'll teach us to place value on updates based on their number.
On a more serious note, at least we get an assload of pretty pictures, and finally Snake's box is confirmed to be a taunt. And to a lesser extent, Link's fairy and Zamus's whip-twirl are also revealed to be taunts instead of moves. Hooray!

I don't want to be the annoying dude that does it, but..... "yawn".
Something big needs to come very soon. Please Sakurai.
(update isn't that bad, though - we found out more about Snake's box - just a taunt, as it were - and got some cool screens)

Well it's nice to get some questions finally answered about the taunts. Wario's "W" with his fingers looks pretty cool too.

I just knew Link's N64 taunt would return for some reason. All the other N64 taunts are like Melee's, except Fox who crosses his arm and turns his face like a cocky hobohead so maybe that'll return in brawl too... Oh and I wonder if the message thing is online multiplayer only. If it's local VS mode too, well that could get annoying. e: Can anybody translate what they're saying on the Japanese site? Just curious

I'd wish Sakurai'd give us some proper updates, (like for instance a certain bounty hunter/racing driver) instead of this crap.
@ Parrothead. The screens on this page don't seem to match up with the screens on the official (UK) site. The screen showing Wario's taunt seems to be missing, and the text 'He gives a three-fingered "W" salute.' appears under Fox's picture (at least on the Internet Browser I'm on : Opera)

Friday: You can change colors! I'm actually looking forward to this update as I get the feeling that update will also reveal that he has put alternate costumes in.

Friday: You can change colors! As lame as that sounds, I'm genuinely looking forward to that update, so long as we get some better screens of "cameo" outfits.

Sqrt2=1.4142135623730950488016887242097, I have no problemwth the caption. The UK site, viewed with Opera, that is.
8bitretroboney Snake's taunt is traslated as "ahahahaha"; and I don't know for the rest.

Sqrt's referring to Parrothead's post. Not the site update. He gives a three-fingered "W" salute.

I can't believe that they're going to let people add text to their taunts. Let the profanity begin. I know that they'll put filters in, but all it takes is a well-placed space or period to get around that.

They aren't letting you use them when playing online ('cept with friends) so why does it matter?
But yeah, let the swearing begin indeed.

It's funny that they have the characters saying things that they're known for ('cept Wario)
Dedede "Right Back at Ya!" the slogan for the cartoon, and Snake's "SNAAAAAAAAAAKE!" Is always what you hear hen Snake dies. (Snake. Snake? SNAAAAAAAAAAAAAKE!)
I think that's what I'd do when I put in custom text.
Something I don't understand though, why is that one pose Link's using, called his N64 pose, I don't remember that on any N64 Zelda game...

Oh, come the fuck on.
The update alone isn't bad on it's own, but we've had a nice long string of bad and mediocre updates. There has to be something interesting besides BS from E for All.
